I'm not even getting excited about this. It is better if I just pretend nothing is coming and then I'll feel surprised when it gets here. Did I mention I'm in South Korea?

A gaming friend of mine used to live in Forissant, MO. Moved out near Rolla, I think.jeff wrote:I guess it's true. Maybe the St. Louis area is another hotbed of gaming goodness. (Second place to the Chicago region, naturally.)

Lots of gamers in St. Louis, but we tend to be pretty fragmented.finarvyn wrote:Maybe the St. Louis area is another hotbed of gaming goodness. (Second place to the Chicago region, naturally.)
However...as of 10 minutes ago, Hazelwood has been DCC'd!

I just came home for lunch and found the book waiting for me at my door. So, it's made it to Kokomo, Indiana.

Got my limited edition in the mail today! WOOHOO! Minor bummer - the upper right corner of the cover was bent, as was the corners on the first couple hundred pages. Otherwise, it looks great!

Holy crap! Not only is the DCC book immense, it's one of the most attractive volumes I've ever seen.

....and after all the waiting and watching for the mail-person
like an excited kid the Tome is delivered on my birthday!
Perfect. My dark sacrifices were approved by the Court of Chaos
after all...
The book is absolutely stunning, massive and well-built. LOVE the paper
quality, really does all of the spectacular artwork proper. 100% impressed.
And the module looks fantastic too, will probably have to read through
that first!
Having the PDF early was great but now this, this is fun! New game day!

Got my gold foil edition at work (and yeah, it's 3 kinds of awesome -- only downside is that mine too has a nearly inch wide ding along the top right edge of the back cover). And my gf emailed confirming my standard cover edition is awaiting me at home!
Oh, work is in Cincinnati, home is northern KY.

I've got three different groups on the hook to play through the Portal funnel
Re: The pre-order shipments have left the printer!
Received the gold edition this morning in Ohio! All four corners were pretty bent due to shipping though. Figure I'll take it with me to Origins and get some autographs on it

Re: The pre-order shipments have left the printer!
Mine came in today here in central Kentucky. Ditto on what everyone has been saying about the size. Book is HUGE and it's amazing. Pretty sure it is the largest RPG book I now own. The PDF does not do the artwork in the book justice and I'm glad the binding is so good since that is usually an issue with large books like this.
The module is also quite impressive. I guess I was expecting something more along the lines to what we saw in the Quickstart, so I was blown away. The maps are also amazing looking again as well. I've already ran "Portal Under the Stars" as a demo at my FLGS two weeks ago. So I will likely run "Doom of the Savage Kings" soon letting everyone update their level 0's from the demo.
Best wishes that everybody else still waiting gets their copy in soon!

It should be here soon, then, if Ohio has received it.

I agree with the fragmented assessment of the St. Louis gaming scene - lots of players, but not a lot of interaction between groups.Brasidas wrote:Lots of gamers in St. Louis, but we tend to be pretty fragmented.finarvyn wrote:Maybe the St. Louis area is another hotbed of gaming goodness. Having said that, Florissant's first (?) copy of DCC has arrived as well. It looks great but for some unsightly dings on the limited edition's corners. I wish the shipper had used some sort of bubble wrap before packing it.

When you get it Ogrepuppy, let me know and vice versa seeing as how we are both from the wasteland called Western New York.
