No sir, I believe Algaroth will float there till Grimtooth himself comes to collect him! Also, please welcome Harold the turnip farmer and his cow (an offering to Grimtooth), and Rufo the Steady, halfling gypsy neer-do-well walking with a bad limp.

My zeroes are muttering to each other in Elven. They make sure no one in the room is taking any strides toward the fountain before they decamp from the wall. They then jump down and make a hasty retreat out of the room. Aerandir returns to Legolad's shoulder when they reach the entrance.

Chuck grabs a crowbar and a sack and goes with the others.

I'm confused: have we confirmed that the floor is NOT electrified now that the trident is up...?

I'm considering having Yan and Yadin recover some stuff from Skaath and Freebo, but they are only interested if there's reasonable assurance that the electrical activity has abated.

[As far as we think, the charge has dissipated. If you're looting characters outside of the fountain, it'll probably be OK, especially if the corpses in the fountain are floating. P.S. If anyone has any spare d6-8 weapons on them, I'd love some upgrades.]

Right, I think people have crossed the floor after the shock that took so many of us down.

Assuming that is the case, and only if that is the case, Yadin will re-enter the room and cherry pick stuff from Skaath and Freebo's bodies.

Pitchfork - (up for grabs)
9-ft Pole
waterskin
flint & steel
Hammer
sm. hammer
lg. sack
6 torches - (could be distributed)

Along the way he stalls out for a second, staring at Shaun the sheep, puffed up like a kernel of super-sized popcorn.

Vashni grabs the pound of fine dirt from Joe's corpse and shoves it like a sandbag into the hole made in the fountain, then turns to greet two of the newcomers.

Vashni: "Turn back from this damnable fountain! Whatever lies within has cost too much in lives as is without adding thereunto. Let's find fairer game... wasn't there another passage?"

Elrod will gladly accept the pitchfork if he has no issue with the pitchfork with respect to racial traits.

My trio are waiting by the elevator for the new "pole-man" to lead the way. No needless acid deaths here.

Gromluck watches as the survivors of the fountain room march back into the elevator room. He raises a bushy eyebrow and taps his hammer against his foot. "What's a matter? I heard a lotta splashin and squealin. Somebody fall in or somethin?"

(On a side note, is XP only awarded for killing monsters, or do survivors of certain catastrophies get a little somethin-somethin?)

Yes, you've now observed several others in the group hastily trod through the partially flooded chamber without ill effect (other than soggy footwear). No one has ventured back inside the fountain, where the statue's arm and trident are indeed back up in their original position.

Wooden handle so you're okay there. Think of it as having a slow action poison on the pointy end - as long as you avoid prolonged contact with it, you should be fine.

Survivors of the fountain room get 2 xp each.

Rick, does a pitchfork bother an Elf, if the Elf is holding the wooden handle only?

Grabbing the pitchfork, Elrod gives a thankful nod as he takes special care to keep the pointy bits away from himself. He hands his dagger to Celebron.

South of the acid room is the elevator (which I suspect will only electrocute us untill we find another numbered key), but that passage to the West is yet unexplored, yes? Grimtooth's power bill must be terrifying...

Also: MAPS! Me loves me some mappage...

West sounds ...good? I'm not sure the term applies, but let's go that way...

Yadin and Yan are shoulder to shoulder, turning to see what's behind them, above them, alongside, beneath... and then realize if the other of them trips something nasty, they're both caught.

They move about 10' feet apart, where possible.

Unless north is down, that passage is to the east.

There's no west bro...
I only see an east beneath the Fountain room, and a south from the elevator.

Btw, who has the 9' pole now?

I believe Yadin has the pole of acid detection? My group is content to follow others at the moment, staying on a path that is checked by the 9' pole.

Some failed cartography rolls going on here... :D

Options -
  • Proceed East of the fountain chamber
  • Go South of the elevator/acid pools
  • Try the elevator again
  • Look for secret doors
  • Something else

I blame Fenris' compass.

EAST!

And, yes, Yadin has the 9-foot pole of acid detection.

I'm a terrible excuse for a man... I did mean East!

Also, "E" marks the elevator, and the passage I was actually remembering was indeed the southern one. So, South or East? I refrain from voting, being an imbecile with maps...lol
