Zeppo also has rope and grappling hook. Maybe we use it to secure the person diving down to use the keys?

Two ropes is better. I'd suggest everyone tying in, or at least climbing out of the swill so it doesn'y suck us all out into god-knows-what! Heya, that mallet ole sharky had- is it weapons-grade and is it visible anywhere?

The 'waters' are at this point fouled with all kinds of debris (should've mentioned that earlier), mostly splintered wood, and clouded with what had been flour, grain, etc.

Finding a plug hole down there would be extremely difficult, but searching above, less so -- no trapdoors to higher ground reveal themselves. However, Tommy's clarity is such that he checks the body of the Beeracuda himself... and finds he has gills! He likely could've stayed under the surface for who knows how long. Perhaps getting drunker minute by minute, but then who knows how far his strange physiology goes...

Grappling hooks can be easily and assuredly set among the casks to either side(broken on one side, whole on the other). 50 feet of rope will reach to the door with enough to spare to secure up to three people per side.

As for the mallet, it can be found. A big block of wood, attached to a stout handle, two-handed (so d16 initiative), and 1d8 damage. Certainly less long-lived than a hammer purpose-made for fighting, but should hold up perfectly well for the short term.

Tommy is a bit low on luck now, so he'll stay up on a cask and help with hauling people back up after they attempt to unlock the door.

I say we have three stay up as dedicated haulers in case something goes funny with the current in the "waters." First unlock attempt goes to our highest luck character. Rinse/repeat until we get through this. If we have another length of rope, maybe we can have another diver look for some sort of plugged drain system or do we not think it's worth it?

Brun will stay up on one side with Kylessa preparing to dive.
Brun: "I'll bet there's no drain, or that if there is, the rush of swill out the door could potentially be to our advantage as long as we aren't swept up in it ourselves. We're down to, what- five of us now? Sheesh..."
Once everyone is tied or otherwise secured, she leaps into the drink...
Kylessa's dive: Luc13 roll of 9. Hopefully Brun has a good hold on that rope...

Great Caesar's Salad!

Kylessa opens the lock in no time at all!

Does she go as far as opening the door?

Tommy is also holding the rope and retconning this into the conversation before Kylessa jumped in. "Give us one tug if you're going to open the door and two tugs if you want us to pull you back up. Good luck!" The grappling hook end is also secured to the cask.

Almost immediately the rope is tugged once, then twice. She turns the knob with one hand , clings with the other to the rope, and kicks the door inward with both feet...

(She waits till Zeppo and Sanitor are secured or in a safe place before she dives)

From above, there is a quick moment of the water seeming to shudder,

Then suddenly, the level begins to drop rapidly. A huge vortex is formed, making a chuddering sucking noise -- SHKLUUUUUUUUURR-KR-KR-KR-KRRRK!

Kylessa is buffeted by the rapidly escaping liquid.

-- Give me a simple roll-under Luck check. Failure is the loss of 1 hp to colliding with assorted debris.

Her comrades struggle mightily to pull her out to safety, eventually bringing her exhausted form up above the surface of the sluice.

The liquid has vanished through the door and down another ramp....

Luc(13)=19 fail
Brun descends from the cask and wraps his threadbare cloak about Kylessa's shoulders, who only looks impassively at the doorway that now stands open.

What do we see beyond?

Zeppo and Sanitor collect the grappling hook and rope, then stand behind them and peer through the doorway.

Tommy takes a quick look at the debris for anything that might be of use, then turns to look in the direction of the open doors.

There are shards of wood for Tommy, some of them quite large. Other than that soaked and torn burlap-type sacks, and some crates that didn't get busted open with gods know what inside (but probably food stuffs).

Beyond the door is another ramp curving to the left. It drops to at least another 20 feet down, maybe more depending on how far it extends...

Marching order?

Single-file, two by two, three by, er two... whatever works for you all.

Zeppo and Sanitor are willing to go in the front, their weapons drawn, their eyes darting about for signs of more foul trickery from this place.

Tommy will take up a position in the second rank.

With these two in the lead, let's find out what there is to be found -- the others can simply be immediately behind them, or hold back as they see fit.

You advance, making nearly a complete circle in your descent. The ramp ends in another chamber, lit by torches. The level of the alcohol makes that last three or four feet outside the doorway take a bit of ankle-wading to enter the room.

The room is full of pegs, only some few with ceremonial robes and sashes hanging from them. A very large group of people could don this garb simultaneously here.

There is a lithe, muscular figure standing in the center of the room, holding a torch high above his head. He has a belt that glints in the torchlight. His face is set in a stern grimace.

"You think you have done well to get this far -- but you'll get no further! The Mighty Oll Zen and his bride will not be disturbed until their affairs are complete!"

With that, he throws the torch in his hand down. The alcohol ignites and the flame quickly zig-zags across the surface, setting the entirety of the foot-deep liquid on fire.

He laughs madly, head thrown back and shouts "Nothing can stop our Master now!"

He sweeps up a simple, metal bucket and drags it through the burning alcohol as he runs in your direction, and hurls the contents at Zeppo and Sanitor!

His Initiative: 16

We need initiatives and actions...

Brun files in next to Tommy, trying to make little of his wounds in front of Kylessa, who takes up the third rank. Both unleash a ranged volley at the man with the bucket, trying to get out of the liquid as they do so.
Init(+2)=9
Brun: (shuriken)att=NAT 20! crit=4, dmg=4
Kylessa: att(+2)=20, dmg=2

18 initiative. Tommy is backpedaling to get out of the ignited booze. This takes more precedence than his throw of the javelin, 2 to hit.

Dang
Does this guy seem immune to the fire?

Tommy falls back away from splash range, more dropping than throwing his javelin.

The guard rushes forward, flames licking their way up him, as the liquid soaks into his clothing. He seems completely unfazed by this.

The room develops a bright glow as the size of the fire expands.

The guard hurls the burning contents of the bucket! Hitting only Sanitor effectively. He gets ...wetter. If that's possible.

BUT HE ALSO CATCHES ON FIRE!

No damage this round.

Brun hurls a shuriken at the guard and Kylessa smacks him with, um, something. The crit knocks the bucket out of his hand.

Still need actions from Zeppo and Sanitor before moving on to the next round...

Sanitor dives to the driest spot of ground he can find to try and put out the fire (not the first time he's been on fire).
Zeppo throws a shuriken at the assailant. To hit: 14, 2 dmg

Sanitor stops, drops and rolls, but the entire ground is damp (the liquid all had to rush through here to get to this new room). The flames are diminished while on his downward side, but flutter right back up when on his upper side. He's feeding them more flammable liquid by rolling in it.

Inside the room, the entirety of the floor is now covered in burning liquid, but it has not yet crept up the roof supporting arches on either side which are massive timbers, nor ignited the few robes hanging up...

Zeppo misses (unless he'd like to throw some Luck at the issue [3]).

It's a steep price for so little, no luck burnt.

Are the robes reachable without getting into the flames?

Unless someone can fly and hasn't told me, someone's going to have to run though the room to get to those robes.

Then again, you all have various random bits of equipment that might be employed in non-traditional ways to achieve.... something(?)
