Pockets bulging with pilfered gold, Marvin looks around at the others. So...how do we leave?

Xim pipes up, "I have to get this staff on the altar first, remember!"

Honest John: "Let's be going!"

OOC: Honest John inserts the medallion...

And with another dizzying lurch, you find yourselves back in the last room.

Jester Jenkins and Joseph who have been poking about, trying to figure out what trap door swallowed you, stare at your sudden reappearance, mouths agape.

Jester Jenkins lets out a high pitched scream at the reappearance of his comrades. Joseph stands still, mouth agape.
Recovering himself, the fool clears his throat. "Where . . . where have you lads been?"

Honest John: "I'm not entirely certain but we found a nice spear while we were there."

Xim immediately strides off toward the room in which Ken Katcherman and Lyanna had died, yelling over his shoulder, "Come on! We have to get this spear on the altar posthaste!"

Marvin, weighed down by pockets of gold, calls lamely after Xim, "Wait, what?" He looks ta the others, not willing to follow Xim on his own.

Ok, that room is a looong way off from where you are standing now.

Do you all follow him?

Reminder that the hallway off of this room continues for 30' and ends in a door.

What do you all do?

Jester Jenkins and Joseph follow the obviously mad halfing at a reasonable distance.
"Ummm . . . Xim? You remember that there is a horrifying ooze monster in there, right?" the jester calls out.

OOC: If we don't follow him he's probably going to get himself killed. Hmmmm... if we do follow him he'll probably get us killed. Argh!! We follow!

"Hey, Short-stack! I'm exhausted. Why don't we all take a break before our inevitable deaths?" Jester Jenkins suggests.

OOC: Yes, let's rest. Honest John is going to see if he can't coax that dog out of that rubble pile first.

Honest John: "Come on boy. It's safe. We're not going to hurt you."

OOC: I'm not sure the nature of Xim's compulsion; I am guessing from the way it was written that there are no mechanical parameters for Xim to be failing his Will Save?

He failed the save on the second attempt. Would he like to try to resist the compulsion again this round?

OOC: Sure thing. Xim rolls an 11.

Xim turns and regards his companions, as if seeing them for the first time. "But, I have to get the spear on the altar! Surely you all see that?"

He still seems reluctant to come out. Any other ideas?

OOC: Does anyone have any food?

[OOC: My PCs don't have food. However, Joseph is a herder with a herding dog (who is outside I guess?). Can he use his skills working with his own dog to draw the dog out?]

It's assumed that you all have a little food and water. You wouldn't go on such an expedition without them. That's hand waved in my games.

He is still compelled to place the Spear of Ramat into the hole on that pedestal.

Xim, exasperated at the clear ignorance and wrong-headedness of the rest in the group, strides off to place the spear.

Marvin looks at the others. "Why, exactly, do we care if that fellow wants to do himself in? I say we rest. We can go pick up his body in the morning."

OOC: We may need to subdue Xim. Who's got rope?

OOC: Marvin doesn't have rope, but is ready to pounce.

OOC: If we can't bind him in some way he'll just run off with the spear as soon as we're asleep.
