Red Robert: In a hushed tone "Gentlemen, I believe I've located our missing dog. Do we still care about this or should I just fire a few arrows into it and we'll tell the girl we couldn't find it?"

Let's say Copromancer and Jenkins at 16 and 12?

Lyanna frowns.
"Why would we do that? Just get the damn dog and lets get out of here."

For now, all you hear is the whimpering. Whatever hole the animal crawled into to get behind the rubble is too small for any of you...

Joseph snaps at Red Robert, "Aye, why waste more life down here? Better keep watch for whatever grabbed the pup. I'll try to get it, I've a way with animals. Just... watch my back."

Marvin and the others move forward, save Copromancer (who watches with an aloof curiosity, studying this place), but even the armed tax collector holds back a bit.

Jenkins thinks out loud. "Whatever grabbed it... are you sure it's gone? Why would it take a dog down here, past the trapped pillar, and that spider, only to leave it under some rubble? This... doesn't seem strange to anyone?"

OOC: Joseph is going to try for the dog, see exactly where it's hiding or stuck.

I'm thinking this is suspicious, like that scene in Predators where Machete is in that field, but the cries for help are recordings... however, my characters aren't thinking that far ahead (well, maybe Copromancer, but he's nuts); so if my meta-thinking is right, Joseph may be at risk of a cunning ambush. The party are thinking there's a beast somewhere here, but that's about it. Maybe they can get the dog and leave before it realizes they're here?

Hope we get through this; I'm curious to read the module when we're done!

You might be able to clear the rubble in a matter of 6 hours or so, but there's no guarantee that it would not collapse or that such a thing would not attract... Unwanted attention.

After a bit of searching, poking and prodding, you realize that there is apparently no easy way for you to get to the frightened dog's hiding place (if indeed that's what it is) and that another approach will be needed.

Lyanna sighs, then shoves Squire Jon.
"Let's get moving," she growls and heads back into the main passage. Squire Jon looks back at Ragged Rob, shrugs and follows. Ragged Rob slouches behind.
Once in the main passage, the trio moves into the larger room with the circular stone pillar.

Ken Katcherman: "Well that was unsatisfying. I was really hoping to be able to use one of my snares. Oh well, let's keep moving."

Red Robert: "You think you're disappointed? I was all ready to shoot and kill a defenseless animal in cold blood."

Honest John: "You're a weird guy..."

OOC: Ken and company shuffle into the hallway.

Ok, so you've moved on for now, unable to physically reach the hiding animal behind the rubble.

Instead, you move into the larger room with the pillars.

As you enter this large room, waves of darkness and evil flood over you. Every light source you carry seems to be dampened and dimmed. Clearly, this area was once a religious sanctuary of some sort, though it appears to have been defiled. A large, circular pedestal stands in the middle of the room, about 40' from where you enter. It has a small, circular hole in its center.

Lyanna and Squire John aid Ken by using their pitchforks to tap the area of the floor in front of them, looking for pits or traps.

OOC: Sorry for the delay folks, I'm on vacation through the 12th.

As you close the distance to the pedestal, a black, primordial, amorphous creature rises up from behind it. This 7' abomination is clearly the source of the waves of evil and darkness you're experiencing.

Roll for initiative...

10, 14, 11, 17, 8. Unless we're all one roll for this one?

Marvin is holding his sword before the others, who are not charging forward.

Copromancer takes the nearest torch and lights his "sack of gong" on fire.

"Someone throw this!"

Jenkins, being an agile fellow, takes the sack and prepares to throw it at the evil slime creature.

OOC: Ok, back!

Initiative order: ddodwaco, Fireinthedust, Evil Creature, Max...

If you are foolish enough to attack this truly terrifying monstrosity (heh heh heh) please roll to hit (and for damage unless it is an obvious miss) for each of your characters!

Lyanna and Squire Jon poke at the horror with their pitchfork. Ragged Rob lets fly with his sling and almost brains Squire Jon.
"Watch it, you ex-cripple!" the man shouts.

[Lyanna To Hit 12/Dmg 8]
[Squire Jon To Hit 9/ Dmg 5]
[Ragged Rob To Hit 3/Dmg XX]

I'm going to have mine throw torches at it. It's slime, so it must be able to burn, right?

Copromancer points: "Throw flames upon it! Let this creature of the primordial expulsion burn, fulfilling its destiny!"

With that, he and the others toss their torches at the creature.

But that'll have to wait until the others go first! 13, 9, 7, 17, 13.

Are these the attack rolls? Whose are which?

And damage rolls?

Sorry, confused.

OOC: Copromancer, Jenkins, Joseph, Xim, and Marvin. What would the damage of a torch be? Assuming d6. 1, 2, 5, 5, 3.

Ok, here's how it goes down...

Lyanna and Squire Jon's pitchfork prodding is angrily slapped aside by the beasts' pseudopod-like tentacles.

[Since Ragged Rob also missed, he needs to roll % to see if his sling shot hits one of his compadres engaged in hand to hand].

Copromancer and Marvin's torches fly home, but the fire barely seems to bother the demonic creature, who rises up to its full 7' and issues forth a DEMONIC ROAR!!!

Everyone in the room must now make a DC 15 Fort save!
