Ruh roh indeed.

Although the spell does not go off as intended, Hamun Ry feels the magic cause time itself to become disjointed around his person. For the next 5d5 minutes, he will age 1d3 years per minute.

Wow!

Let's assume he's about 35 years old.

So, for 5d5 minutes = 12 minutes, he's aging 2 years per minute. Oof. Ending age = 59. Hair longer, beard longer, graying.

He feels the magic go haywire and his body begin to age at an accelerated rate. "Urgh..." he moans as his body deteriorates with the ticking seconds. "Halfling, come, stay closer to me. Magic in this place is accursed, I may need your ... assistance ... in the future," he says, as his graying beard slowly grows to cover his mouth and cascade down his chest.

The armour worn by the elves is destroyed, but their boots are not, so you may certainly take them if you like. There is even a 1 in 6 chance that any given pair will be a good fit for an average-sized human (1 in 8 for a large man, 1 in 5 for a smaller man).

The armour worn by the large green humanoid is still usable, made of copper, but a man would have to be quite large to fit it well. The humanoid is at least 7 feet tall.

You also find a dagger made of some strange metal that has burnt down to the wide hilt.

The elves were definitely killed in battle; probably with creatures like the big green humanoid, which seems to have been killed by the elves.

"What a strange blade..." Hamun Ry says, gently prodding the hilt (it's just the hilt, right? blade's totally or just partially melted?) with the tip of a steel-headed arrow. If nothing untoward happens, he'll pick it up. I presume it doesn't look elven in origin, more like the large green goblin guy?

Check to see if there's some elven boots he can wear: 1 in 6 = 3, nope. Oh well.

Maledict's attention is on the green giant.

- A foe that would be worthy of my blade, that.

He searches the elves for other items of interest, that might perhaps be smaller than what is apparent at first glance.

- I agree with searching the chambers for the rings. However, we should stay grouped. If some magic affects us (it is unclear whether Maledict noticed the obviously transformed warlock) or if some golem created by the elves attacks us, we should be ready to help each other defend.

If the warlock insists on splitting the party, Maledict doesn't press the issue.

Whether alone, or accompanied by others, Maledict moves to the next adjacent unexplored door, after he's done searching the elves.

"I meant, fan out in this room," Hamun Ry says. [And yeah, you can't help but notice he looks NOTICEABLY older.]

"Something went wrong with the magic in this place," he says, to explain to the party. "There may be a way to reverse it, I don't know. But for now, we should be very careful about using sorcery here." He spits. "Damnable elves."

The dagger appears from its hilt to have been elvish. the blackened metal of the blade is curled and bent, and falls apart with but a little pressure. The large, ugly green humanoid apparently used a stone axe, for the smashed head of such a weapon is located.

It is a good thing that Lily Blackwater yet inhabits the blade bearing her name, for it is she who gives Maledict a faint warning when an eight-foot tall creature appears in the doorway, armed with a flint-tipped spear. It has long curved horns, cloven goat hooves, and the sharp teeth of a carnivore. It wears no clothing over its shaggy goat-man body. Even as Maledict (and this round, only Maledict) can respond, it leaps into the room to attack! (Init 7 +2 +4 semi-surprise bonus = 13.)

Jep will also help in the search. He warily eyes Hamun Ry... the rapid aging makes him a little nervous.

Inspired by Lady Blackrush's warning, Maledict immediately concludes (rightly or wrongly) to this creature being a threat and he attacks.

init: 1d20 (19) + 3 = 22

Deed: Maledict attempts to kick a small wooden bench or stool from the floor against or near the hooved giant's head, in the hopes of distracting it and attracting the attention of others, perhaps delaying the giant's actions or provinding some advantage to his own attack.

In the same movement, Maledict attacks, apparently with emotions under control but with an uncharacteristically high-pitched scream:

- Die, demon, die!

Deed die 1d6 = 3
Atk: 1d20 (13) + 3 + 4 = 20
Dam 1d10 (2) + 3 + 3 = 8

The stool strikes the horned giant, and knocks him slightly off balance, reducing him to using only one of his Action Dice. He stabs at Maledict (17 + 7 = 24) for (1d8 +3) points of damage. You may feel free to roll your own damage.

Next round, everyone may act. Init 7 + 2 = 9.

Round 2:

Initiative 1d20 (2) + 3 = 5

Maledict acts after the creature on round 2.

Deed: Maledict tries to kick the giant in the nuts - does he have any? Maledict takes a chance, under the creature's fur. He follows through with a sword attack.

Deed die 1d6 = 4
Atk 1d20 (13) + 4 + 4 = 21
Dam 1d10 (5) + 4 + 3 = 12

****

OOC: first time playing a warrior, I'm not sure if I can aim for a kick and a sword stroke both during a round with a single action die? Not sure what the kick in the nuts would do, heheh :) RC, don't hesitate to guide me if you think some of my deeds are inappropriate or can't be done, I'm fine with that.

Initiative = 5 + 2 = 7

The Thief will attempt to take advantage of the initial chaos to hide (17 + 10 = 27) from the creature with the intent of catching it unaware w/ his next attack.

Init: 9 + 1 = 10.

Hamun Ry steroids back as far away as he can, and shoots at the thing with his longbow. 13 + 2 = 15, if that hits, 2 damage.

DMG (1d6): 1+4 = 5
Attack #2 (1d16): (15)+3 = 18
DMG (1d6) 5+4 = 9

The creature cannot withstand your furious assault, and before it can do aught else, it collapses under your furious blows. The falling body becomes a pile of withered brown leaves, leaving only the flint-tipped spear to show what it once was.

Although relatively insignificant before your might, it did do some damage, everyone may have 1 XP.

[Not sure what our XP actually is, since we started at 4th... do we assume the minimum for 4th? Or a randomized point in between?]

"Hmm," Hamun Ry ponders, while trying to retrieve his arrow, if it wasn't destroyed. "Leaves? Some elvish sorcery, it seems."

(Maledict took 5 damage on the creature's attack, by the way.)

The knight keeps his sword unsheated. He squints, his eyes slowly alternating between looking left and then right, and maintains a half-crouched battle position for another minute or two after the fight is over, looking somewhat foolish but apparently oblivious to that fact.

He then straightens and declares solemnly as others are searching the room:

- We have vanquished all our foes and no other presents itself. It is safe to continue our search.

Finding nothing else of note, I assume that you follow your original plan and head to the next entrance clockwise from the gates.

This is an irregular round chamber, roughly 35 to 40 feet across, with another exit to the south. The floor is covered with light green marble, and the walls are decorated with brightly coloured tapestries depicting scenes of woodland frolic. But the tapestries are ripped in places, with broken bricks beneath them, letting the earthen hill show through, and there are old blood stains upon the marble floor.
