The Beggarmaster

Post by american.nerd »

I'm starting my group's latest campaign in Punjar, and after the initial set-up, they will be running through Sellswords.

Does anyone have suggestions for a good miniature to represent the Beggarmaster when the time comes?

I'm sure I can find a decent substitute among my 500+ D&D Miniatures, but if someone knows of an obese, bald guy miniature out there, painted or unpainted, then I'd appreciate the tip...

Thanks!

You could try Reaper's ghoul king: http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/02718.

It's pretty naked, but not as naked as the re-sculpt of the same mini.

Weren't there one of them plastic D&D jobbies that was a pot-bellied balding guy swinging a mug o' brew?

Fantastic suggestions, guys! I never thought about the Tavern guy...and I pulled four of them out to use as beggars in one of the encounters in Sellswords! I like that Reaper Ghoul King, though...The Beggar-King (yes, I realize my mistake in using "beggarmaster" in the posting's title) IS tainted by Shadow and might be more grotesque than usual...

Thanks!

He is more grotesque than usual, read his description. Made me think of Event Horizon.

When I get to running Sellswords, I'll have to use the Tavern Drunk, since laying out $11 for a figure is not in my budget, and I already have the Drunk. A villain for a whole campaign, one that will actually show up multiple times, sure. One adventure, not so much...

Ah, but if you pay 11 bucks for a figure, then you assign that NPC Villain an AC of 212 and give them enough power to make even Orcus their bitch...

Oh, I'm just kidding...I'm a slave to player fairness. I even roll my dice out in the open! I've established so much trust, my players don't even look at them anymore, unless I roll a 20, throw my hands in the air, and yell "Suck it, Losers!"

Okay...I do throw my hands in the air, but only think the rest of it...

:: splutters :: What is this...."player fairness"...insanity you're speaking about?!?

And yes, if I'm shelling out $11 for a one-time-use mini, AC 212 is totally reasonable. A little too easy you might even say.

Yeah, that figure is awesome...

I'd make him some kind of slaver ring-leader, if I had a campaign where the PC's start off being captured for slavery (been done before I know). That way, they could escape his clutches, cross paths with him a time or two, and then get the chance to trounce him in the end.

...or something.

Has everyone seen the latest sculpt of the Ghoul King?

Please correct me if I'm wrong...but I think I doth spy Ghoul Dong! I'm not sure which weapon my players would be more afraid of?

All kidding aside, it is a great miniature...

I left out the obese part of the description and used MegaMini's "Wretch" which was only 1.50 :

I gave him a little crown of greenstuff and painted him up. My players were pretty into it.

I also got one of their beggar minis:

I ordered the original Ghoul King from Reaper last Thursday. I kept imagining the Beggar-King in some sort of horrific flux between the Mortal World and the Shadowfe--...umm, I mean The ShadowHold...
