Crazy Question: Living DCC ?
One of my players the other day was wondering if any thought had been given to doing something akin to the Living Campaigns of D&D, etc.
So, I thought I'd post and see if any thing has/had been discussed for DCC and convention play whether campaigns or tournaments?

Re: Crazy Question: Living DCC ?
We've discussed this some, internally, as a way of getting folks into gaming stores, but nothing that's come close to fruition yet. I've been tempted to do a smaller, Living Punjar at cons, but so far playtesting adventures has taken priority.
Maybe if we ever get to do Joseph's Summer of Gaming tour, it will take the form of a running campaign-wide event. *That* would be fun.

Re: Crazy Question: Living DCC ?
I'm a big fan of organized play. Encounters seems to be doing well for WotC's 4e. Pathfinder Society seems to be pretty successful too. I LOVED Living Greyhawk and had a blast playing Living Forgotten Realms.
It wouldn't be hard to make this happen, even in an unofficial capacity. All it would take is some basic rules standards, but as Flailsnails has proven, even that is not that important. Heck DCC is pretty much Flailsnails compatible.

Re: Crazy Question: Living DCC ?
I've never really taken part in a living campaign, but I understand they have never been greatly successful. How does it work exactly? Is there some way to work every core DCC module by default support the living campaign?

Not entirely sure what I'm reading there -- but I want to keep reading it...!

Before the recession we were in the process making plans to load up a van with Goodman Games judges and traverse the country, running games and sleeping on sofas. I still harbor hopes we get the chance.GnomeBoy wrote:*jaw hits floor, hard*

Re: Crazy Question: Living DCC ?
This would truly be 'living' DCC! (as opposed to a living DCC campaign.)
I'd be all over this, even volunteer couch space here in Los Angeles. But I'd want to come along.

Re: Crazy Question: Living DCC ?
It would be a judge's dream: have everyone roll up characters, and then roam the country running an evolving meta event. All the players could post reports to the forum, and the tour would culminate at GenCon with a capstone adventure for everyone that could make it to Indy.
It would be way, way fun.

This sounds like a great dream. I hope you get to do it some day. Are you guys gonna make it to gencon 2012?

Re: Crazy Question: Living DCC ?
I signed up specifically to reply to this - if you do a DCC Summer of Love (ok, it'll need a better name) and have an event near Chicago (since you're local boys, you damn well should), it would be the first public gaming event that I'd feel honor-bound to sign up for. I've been tempted - oh so tempted - by Pathfinder but haven't pulled the trigger. DCC would hit the sweet spot.
