I am excited about Crime Pays

Post by Tavis »

The title says it all, except maybe that the half-orc Godfather cover is awesome. I'd buy a poster of that even if I don't think my wife would let me put it up in the apartment.

When will it come out? Any chance that this will become part of a series?

Tavis,

Thanks! I love the cover too. It was Joseph's vision and the artist, David Griffith, nailed it perfectly. Crime Pays is in layout even as we speak, so it is literally just around the corner. Not Gen Con, but shortly afterwards.

I have a sequel in mind, but first we need to see if CP does well.

Harley,

I hope your idea has something to do with divine characters. ;)

:) Crime Pays is actually for all classes and races. You don't need to be a rogue to be a godfather. Rather, you need to be cunning, opportunistic, vicious (when the time is right), diplomatic (when the time is right), and maybe just a little bit lucky. It's more about a PC's choices than his powers ...

xredjasonx, I'm not sure if you were joking (I took a critical hit to my funnybone and am insensitive to humor for 1d4 turns) or if you meant Harley's idea for a sequel. (The idea of religious thieves is awesome, so it'd be cool if the Godfather was both a cleric and a mob boss!)

However, if Harley isn't planning a similar book about religious hierarchies, heretics and orthodoxies, temples and cults, geases and crusades, saints and simonies I'd love to write it...

I can't wait to see Paladin Vito Corleone, then.

And yes, crime can pay. Don't ask questions and you won't hear lies....

I see that CP has dropped off the current schedule and is in "to be released....sometime between now and Hell freezing over" limbo.

Any good news on it's arrival date?

I think it's release date has dropped to "As soon as Harley can get caught up and edit the layout proof." :) The fault is all mine. The art and maps are done, layout is 75% of the way there, but the layout artist is waiting on my feedback. I need to get one other project out the door and then I can concentrate on CP.

Would it help if I dangle wads of cold, dirty cash in front of your face?

(It always seems to help the dancers at that club I go to...y'know, the one on the wrong side of the tracks? Yeah, that one.)

Well, the bribe worked. But where has that dollar been?

Current project down, and I'm officially back on CP.

How do you know it's just a dollar? I tip well to see boobehs.

If you need to ask where it's been, you don't want to know.

See? Crime (my bribe) does pay (you're back on the project)!

The cover art is pretty sweet and this sounds like a cool product. Any word on release date?

Later this year, probably Q3/Q4. Plugging away on some other titles and slowly making it to Crime Pays!

We're most of the way through November, so maybe there is a more firm release date? (I'd like to know if I should be putting it on my Christmas list... :D )

Still waiting on some work back from one of the contributors. He had some medical issues. I know, it's been one thing after another!
