Re: Chainmail +1

It's up to you! There's nothing really set in stone in DCC for magical armor, as far as I can tell. But things you CAN change are the check penalty, the fumble die, the movement penalty. You can also think of obscure and strange things to add to the armor. Adaptive camouflage, or maybe it shines so ...

Re: New stuff from Heavy Metal Adventures

Sometimes my name is known to mutate, I can't help it, spell corruptions build up and create weird mutations sometimes hehe.

Origins 2022

I'm late to the game of scheduling events because of personal schedule stuff, looks like the few events that are going on at Origins for DCC are all mostly booked up, pretty cool!

Re: Sword Magic Typo?

Every time I've seen any reference to "per above" in a spell result table, it is referencing the previous result on the specific results of that spell's table.

Sword Magic Typo?

On the table of spell results. 1 is "lost and corruption" 2-15 is "failure, spell not lost" all the results for 16+ are "Per above, and table 8-4" Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but doesn't that mean it is technically a "failure" and ALSO a success that you che...

Re: DCC ONE HUUUUNDREEED!

Hmmm... I'm wondering if there's any superstitious feelings towards the DCC adventure line. DCC #100 isn't out yet? I mean I get there's been tons of things GG have been working on, lots of 5E products, Old school adventures reincarnated, lots of digital conventions, holiday adventures, etc. But DCC...

Re: DCC campaigns without Clerics?

If you are willing to go with the "HP is about stamina and ability to avoid damage rather than being able to take more injuries'", then things like.. a bolstering song from a bard or a battle leader could "heal" HP by inspiring people to keep going, or triggering some adrenalin o...

Re: Clerics: your god and spells?

Clerics and their gods get the short end of the shaft compared to wizards and patrons in the book. There is a little bit more flushed out in the dcc annual, but until then it was mostly up to people to flesh it out themselves.. like... "would your god allow this kind of spell". Personally,...

Re: DCC campaigns without Clerics?

If you are going to remove clerics, then I also suggest severely nerfing wizards so that they actually have to find and research their spells instead of getting them automatically when they level up. I do like all of these healing options. You can include random/rare encountered options for healing ...

Re: permanent/temporary score changes

I have a house rule for thief's and halflings where they get "double" the bonus they would normally get if they burn a permanent point of luck. So for most classes you just track what your "current" luck score is. For Thiefs and Halflings you track your "current" luck s...

New Dungeon Crawl Companion Series

Late but hopefully not least to the party, Heavy Metal Adventures has formed to provide third party content for DCC RPG. Right now we have "Dungeon Crawl Companion #1 - Optional Class Rules" out now on DriveThruRPG, providing some extra rules/abilities for the 7 core classes in the main ru...

Re: Wizard Spells

I think wizards have it too easy in DCC these days. I'm leaning towards no automatic spells when leveling up to 1st level. But they may be visited by a demon or something that may tempt them with a grimoir with one spell in it, or maybe a handful of single-use scrolls, in exchange for whatever mcguf...

Re: No Spellburn for Rituals

I think I would allow for spell burning during a ritual, but I would probably roll a 100%d to see if an unknown enemy of the wizard interrupts the ritual to attack while the wizard is weak from spellburning. With the more points the wizard burns increasing the chance that the enemy will decide to at...

Banjo, your comments are definitely in the form of a personal attack. Please don't do that here. Well, as a survivor of public school bullying, and a survivor of Christian panic about D&D, and a bunch of other trauma, I sometimes do get flashbacks and get very defensive and feel the need to sta...

Re: Converting Adventures

I don't have any codified rules, but I really haven't had trouble just dividing HD/Levels by two for anything that is printed in 5E, and then just using it mostly-as-is in DCC. Stat bonuses are certainly different, but you can just keep the stats the same and alter the bonus. You gotta get rid of pr...
