Re: Combining the best of Starless Sea and Savage Kings?
So 10 years later I have finally pulled together a group to play DCCRPG. I am planning the first session, which commences this week. Initially I wanted to start with Sailors on the Starless Sea (Sailors) and follow up with Doom of the Savage Kings (Doom), as many have done previously and suggested....

Re: Let's Talk About Spellburn
If you are suggesting that I (as the Judge) should "solve" this by witholding XP from future encounters, then I am not sure what to say. That feels needlessly punishing and vindictive. I really feel this reasoning to be entirely backwards. Your player could conceivably conjure up a powerf...

Re: Let's Talk About Spellburn
Somehow I doubt it was the intention of the writer designing the spell that, pretty much regardless of level, the caster should be given the ability to introduce a servant warrior massively overpowered for the level of the party with significant reliability, and have that servant remain for a lengt...

Re: Carousing Rules for DCC
In the pre-AD&D2e XP system where gold was accounted for in calculating XP, I always used GP = XP (or "G=X" for short) in all my post 2e games, so when I finally got DCC, I thought about using this reliable old walnut, but the problem then becomes a system of converting any amount of G...

Re: Android Dice Apps?
Google Purple Sorcerer Crawlers Companion and you should be fine. Sorry for the recent non-responses. I've been away from the internet for a bit. Yes, this. I finally got this to work on my android phone a few months back after Purple Sorcerer posted an update. Its a very useful utility app, and I ...

Re: What are your top 10 DCC third-party products?
I'm relatively new to DCC, so my list of 3rd party "favorites" is as short as the length of ALL of them I've read so far. This is also the order in which I've received them in the mail: HUBRIS (DIY) The Sunken City Adventure Omnibus & Guide (Purple Sorcerer) The Carnival of the Damned ...

Re: Purple Sorcerer Kickstarter Underway...
I can't wait.
I got the Sunken City & another PS product as add-ons (Sullenlands?), and recently got Sunken City in the mail, although I am still missing the Sunken City appendices. (I got them all in PDF however...)

Re: Sword Magic Typo?
No DCC this weekend, unfortunately, but I did get some time to read over the spell description and Sword Magic section. I think the key to understanding this, is that first off, it is a misleading typo. We are accustomed to reading entries like this as a result relating to other results within the t...

Re: Sword Magic Typo?
At a quick glance (which is all I've been able to give it unfortunately), or even careful perusal of the spells section I agree with you. It does read as "see previous entry" style writing. Adjudicating the spell as written would always result in a useless (non-)magic sword. I've been mean...

Could "all the results for 16+ are "Per above, and table 8-4" pertain to tables 8-1 through 8-4 on page 367 in the magic sword section?

Re: Dinosaur Crawl Classics
Dinosaurs would have been an epic DCC supplement.
The only thing more epic than that would be one based on Godzilla, King Kong, Rodan, Mothra, etc. called Kaiju Stawmp Classics, set in a Lost World or Kong Island.

I love dinosaurs. I buy the large containers of plastic dinosaurs at Walmart or Toobs of them at Hobby Lobby!
And army men, Civil War, Commandos, Spacemen & Aliens, but I am still missing the classic Cowboys & Indians for the complete "Game Out of Time" experience.

Nice. I may have to re-learn to use roll20 for internet based gaming, so Goodman Games has me covered and I won't have to struggle with roll20 to create my own maps & tokens from scratch.

Hello, Egg of Coot here. I've been gaming for about thirty-five years (give or take) and paint miniatures semi-professionally. Was a moderator over at Dragonsfoot for close to a decade - recognize some of the usual suspects from over there posting here - so some of you will know me. Got into DCC is...

Re: Elves of the fairy tradition or "normal" rpg elves ?
Huh. What I am writing right now will eventually tie into a trip to the world's moon to rescue a queen. This moon is where my feral "first" elves come from. Looks like another case of "Simpsons did it!" Damn. I might have to get this. :? I am willing to bet your ideas are suffic...

Re: Elves of the fairy tradition or "normal" rpg elves ?
I bought this recently: https://www.exaltedfuneral.com/products/moon-elves-pdf It has some interesting elements that you could mine to redefine elves and elven culture, depending on what kind of setting you are using for your game. I can see using it for both DCC and Troika! games. Huh. What I am w...

Re: Elves of the fairy tradition or "normal" rpg elves ?
From random generators found hither & yon, I have a country of "Blood Elves" with no explanation or details, and a random encounter generator created a race of primitive, alien, blind elves: "Fae Humanoid Skin Color: translucent to pale gray Weapons: Primitive; short bow & dag...

Re: Elves of the fairy tradition or "normal" rpg elves ?
No elves among my players either. I had some 0 level pre-gens to help the group get started on DCC, and I used the 0 level PC sheet with 4 characters per sheet, perhaps 10 or so. ALL players picked a 4 character sheet that didn't have elves. A couple of players vocally rejected the elf characters. I...
