Re: Free RPG day

Sadly, the manager of my FLGS said the cost of the bundle was too much for what business it will generate. I am hoping to run a game or two this summer to pump up interest in DCC RPG, and hopefully open his eyes to this untapped market.

Re: Portal Under the Stars report

Great report. Very similar to my first experience with DCC RPG. I can't help but feel the same as I did when I was ten and played basic D&D for the first time. I love DCC's balance between lethality and creative ways to avoid character death. Glad to hear it went well!

Re: Printings

1. The 2nd printing has an index and errata. 2. Besides updated ads, some minor errata and credits page, the book binding is different. It seems that the cover is a bit more flexible on the 3rd printing. When you lay the book out, the way the spine is stitched allows the book to lay flatter, and the...

Re: Other old RPGs getting the deluxe MA Kickstarter treatme

Per the U.S. Copyright Office FAQ page: How long does a copyright last? The term of copyright for a particular work depends on several factors, including whether it has been published, and, if so, the date of first publication. As a general rule, for works created after January 1, 1978, copyright pr...

Re: Other old RPGs getting the deluxe MA Kickstarter treatme

I would totally go for a Star Frontiers deluxe version if it included old Dragon articles and supplements like Zebulon's guide and Knight Hawks rules. But I imagine WOTC still owns the rights to it?

Re: Request an adventure thread!

Any new zero level funnel would make my day. I heard there is one in the pipe. I wouldn't mind a haunted house adventure. The Arwich Grinder in Crawl #9 is great, and whet my appetite for more like that. An underwater adventure would be cool too.

Re: Limits on magical healing

One thing that came up in a recent game is whether or not a cleric can heal the effect of petrification (basilisk, medusa, cockatrice, etc)? I ruled it required 4 dice of healing...how would others handle that?

Re: Limits on magical healing

One way to mitigate this kind of metagaming, and encourage the role playing aspects of spellburning, is to use the alternate spellburn effects table created by my friend Judge Hook.

Re: Forgive me, I know not what I do...

I have them level up when they hit 10xp, even if the adventure (or session) is not yet done. If any others are close (within one or two xp) then I let them do it too, to save time. I give them all their spells and abilities on the spot when they turn 1st level, but I don't have the wizards and elves...

Re: When does Mercurial Magic "go off"?

I go BTB and have it go off on a success. However, I handle it a bit differently in that I have them roll the initial mercurial effect the very first time they use the spell, not when they acquire it. This has made for some interesting spell casting encounters for sure!

I have yet to use it. It is interesting, but for now my group has decided to stay with the core "canon" classes. That will probably change soon though.

Re: Mutant Crawl Classics (??)

I am super pumped for Metamorphosis Alpha and Mutant Crawl Classics (hopefully MCC comes to fruition). I would have preferred a thicker book with bigger print, versus an oversized book, but the extras that are included look awesome, so I had to back it. I would back MCC as well!

Re: Avoiding corruption/misfire with luck

I think the player has the option to avoid the corruption by using a luck point. They do not avoid the "1" role, just the corruption element that comes from it if that is the outcome. And they do have the benefit of opting to use the luck point after the corruption has been selected by ra...

Re: Avoiding corruption/misfire with luck

After re-reading page 116 several times, this still is a bit confusing and unclear to me. It states that luck can be used to avoid corruption after the corruption result is rolled, and that luck can not be used to avoid a misfire. However, this can be interpreted several ways: * Does this mean that ...

I was fortunate enough to play MCC with Jim at GaryCon, and it was an awesome experience. The DCC mechanics flowed very well in a post-apocalyptic environment. Avoiding corruption/misfire with luck

Most of my players only have level one characters so far, but already I have noticed that nobody is getting any corruption/misfires. So I wondered if I am ruling it correctly? I know a natural 1 is a corruption/misfire roll. However, I have found that my players simply spend the 1 luck point to get ...

Re: Difference between D&D dungeons and DCC dungeons

I find that I prefer adventures that can be completed in one 4 hour gaming session. It works best for my group who have intermittent attendance. But I am quickly running out of adventures that fit that bill, so I may have to adopt a new strategy.
