the rapid shot feat requires an attack method that is reloaded as a free action (like a bow) which is why you can't normally use it with a crossbow... and it only allows you to fire one extra time a round there is a feat that's mainly applied to crossbows that's called rapid reload, however... (redu...

trains would be un-reliable because of track problems... not only would you ahve the lunar rain fouling the tracks on the surface, but you would have thieves, both above and below ground, stealing track for the metal or, even worse, powerful monsters setting up ambushes for the trains in remote area...

how's this sound: the CR for a single mech is calculated as though the mech was a seperate entity from the pilot(s) and is then adjusted for pilot skill for instance, a large mech could have a base CR of 4 to 6, based on HD (which is based on mech type) then take the HD and determine what the mech's...

actually, the viper's entry says that it requires two crew to activate ALL weapons on board, which means both the cannon and the sword, in one round on page 113 there's a rundown of weapons and weapon crew requirements for the last four mechs in the mech stats section, including the viper, and it li...

heh, that's what i figured i'd end up doing, but i always like to get the official word on somehting (especailly since i'm not usually the DM) (now to work out what the face entries for the larger than collosal mechs would be under the WotC system...) anyway, to go on top of the question of what ste...

got another one... i was starting to design a mech, and filling in the stat block using the mech examples to arange the stats... the mechs seem to have unusually small face/reach entires for thier size... large normally is 10 feet x 10 feet, but the large mechs in the book are 5x5. similarly, the ga...

if you're gonna complain about damage dice progression (and i agree, it's too steep a jump to suddenly start adding d20s) that i'll add this: i don't like how the damage dice from a mech slam attack progresses past Colossal II... up to that point, it's pretty good, but then it starts using alternati...

a transformer? actually, i was considering designing one, but i figured it would just be a permutation of the existing folder... and i'm not sure what i would do to account for the fact that it's "two! two! two items in one!"... buy one of each form and integrate? whatever... i know, let's...

not to contradict, but i thought his question was asking if he can integrate the two parts together to make the single device, then make an exact duplicate of it (which would mean having two devices that are make with 'integrated parts') ie: using four steam powers, at third level, to have two ident...

oh, and i had a reason for posting in this thread beyond the above; two ideas for new steam powers: Extender Cost: 1000 Assistants: 2 Size: small (16) Weight: 1/2 of subject An extender works on the same principles as the Folder, except in reverse. It alows an object to extend (such as an arm or leg...

i evidently wasn't very clear sorry, that's just his slam attack from the hydrolic armor after about nine amplifiers i think, one of my players in my UPCOMING dragonmech game informed me of this, an by his logic it works.... from 1d6 to 1d8, 1d10, 1d12, 1d20, 2d20, etc.... to 6d20 and he could hand...

personally, i think that wierdness is the most important part of world building no one wants to buy a campaign setting that's just a cheap knock-off of a more popular pre-existing setting, and the 'wierdness' that picks out a setting and makes it unique is the most important part (heh, that's maybe ...

out of curiosity, what power combination are you using to get that effect? i'd think you'd need 10 amplifiers and a pilot light(11 powers), and that makes for a device that's size huge(at 66 size points), you'd need a level 18 steamborg with an intelegence of 22 minimum to have that many powers avai...

or, rather, four levels of steamborg considering no mechanics are listed on aquiring steam powers (or for developing new ones, as spell research for wizards) though, personally, i wouldn't find it unfair to require a player to pick a limited number of powers at the level they gain access to steam po...

the way it reads to me, it looks like it would apply by increasing the force exerted... in other words, doubling the power-output from the stema engine in terms of power output, strength scores increase exponentially, i would, personally, rule that a boiler attatched to a mech would have to be of a ...

i got the book a couple days ago, and i can't seem to find any mention of this... when you make a combination of steam powers that performs automatic attacks, what attack bonus, if any, does it use? for instance, if i used the repeating crossbow + automator + targetor + discriminator + voice command...
