Rules updates?
I'm going to GM Eldritch RPG for Gameday of Russian Rolecon. I think that for fast-paced play that is required for such events Eldritch works fantastically. I'm going to run the Swamp adventure , though I may add a few NPCs to it. Were there any rules changes I should know about, comparing to one or...

Re: Сhallenge Score
Glad to be here %) got pulled in several Universalis games, had lots of fun. Still, it's GMless. For simple non-retro fantasy play, Eldritch rocks.

Сhallenge Score
Was CS (Challenge Score) dropped in updated PDF? It was kinda complicated, but helpful for measuring monster's combat power for tables and lists. Is there other way to outline creature's "level" in few numbers or die ranks?

Re: How do you like the traps!?
Oh, I didn't speak my mind on this one %) I like Traps, and I wish I would get a chance to use them in actual play. And Danger zone concept is just brilliant. That's great when non-combat dangerous situations get the same detailed tactical treatment as combat. Combat isn't the only fun part in a fic...

I want to add that Big Bugs restored my faith in 4E, gave me great inspiration and basically brought me back to the game. Love this series. Keep it up! %)

Re: Question about leveling up.
I would thought otherwise, but the stress on "or" on page 6 makes me doubt it. And "otherwise there are no restrictions" makes be doubt some more %) on the other hand, this rule is there to avoid minmaxing, and if you get old_level+2 CP on level up, spending 4-6 of them on one ab...

Thanks very much for the link. I just used DiceTool for my game (not Eldritch, though), and it's most useful diceroller I've ever used.

A book on customizing powers and classes.
Sometimes in 4E you want to make a character from concept and to tweak powers for this purpose. And for that you need to reverse-engineer the game balance, which is hard. What if there was a book on 4E game balance and customizing classes and powers? I don't know if there is demand for it, but I'd b...

Re: General skill rolls
Yeah, I know that piece, but what if you don't have a specific task? I know that technically you can handle anything with a difficulty dice, but it would be nice to an analogue to "ok, you rolled 10 at the Music roll, the song you wrote is inspiring" (the goal of writing the best song you ...

General skill rolls
There is a situation I encounter from time to time... Sometimes you roll a skill check not to complete a task, but to see how well you performed. In systems with "against a number" rolls, it's fairly easy. But when an opposed roll is involved, you can't just compare the result to a chart. ...

Re: Girl Gamers wanted
Do you imply sex or gender? That is, physical or psychological? By definition, I am a female gamer, but I always felt like I had male (or geek?) psychology. Guys treat me like one of their own (I'm not into girlish stuff), and even though I prefer more detailed, less "I hit him again" appr...

Re: [4e] Monster Attack Stats
As far as I understand, game-mechanics for monsters and for PCs in D&D4 is different. For monsters, it's something like "keep attack bonus around Level + 5 and don't sweat". See DMG pg.184. One of 4E principle is that you don't have to worry about adding lots of numbers during preparat...

Update: Second try - a bloodseeker from "Necromantic Lore". Third try - SRD's bulette. (And a pair of comic strips on bulette's feats and leaps . Just couldn't help but wonder...) To this point, bulette got mostly positive opinions: EN World , Roleplayers LJ-community . So, why is it a sug...

Re: Goodman Games and 4E
And I couldn't agree more: Rules matter... otherwise we would simply be sitting around a table and make up stories as we go. It is a valid pasttime. But it is not roleplaying. Well, there is actually a very interesting game system for that called Universalis. But it brings a ruleset that measures p...

I'd like to add to my previous thought: I just got my paws on "GURPS Spaceships" (for 4th edition), which contains rules for constructing ships and basic set of ship parts. Even though I don't play any space games currently, after skipping through it I passionately wanted to construct a sp...

Re: Goodman Games and 4E
Why wait for non-combat rules when you can do your own? My father used to ask me: "why buy these expensive rulebooks when you can make your own rules?", and his wife countered: "well then, if you need a new pair of socks, why don't you knit it yourself?". Not everyone can make r...

Re: Some musings on Resilience
So, I do not yet put the Resilience houserules (suggested earlier in other topic) in the Eldritch wiki, as the development goes on... If most monsters use HP instead of active DPs, why don't they use Resilience even if PCs use Saves? So monster creation won't become more complex. Also, it's quite ea...

Cat Lord legal status.
There was this NPC, the Cat Lord. He appeared in Monster Manual II for AD&D1 and Epic Level Handbook. Quite a character. Recently I was practicing monster creation/conversion in D&D4 and got an idea of a short adventure about the Cat Lord. I wonder if it's worth it to make it into a pdf and ...

Re: Coming Soon: More "Critters" For Your 4E Game
Thanks for your great products. I disliked D&D4e at first, seeing uninteresting powers, lack of capabilities and fluff, but decided to give it a chance when third-party supplement will be released. Likewise, I wouldn't get interested in 3.x without great third-party supplements which gave the sy...

What do you think of the "bonus step" idea? Ooh, I have an idea of somewhat different solution: First, I should list mechanics-tied abilities for the players - they should treat them as attributes, even if they are raised from the same pool as other abilities. Shouldn't be a problem here,...
