Re: Light spell?
I'm glad it isn't there; it makes infravision genuinely useful rather than the redundant advantage which it became in D&D

Re: 20's and 1's
I used to run White Wolf back in the day. I ran a little bit of D'ND at times. Mostly a mix of 1 and 2e. I have never ran a game in which the AC increased rather than decreased. So the question I have is more for those creatures and such that end up with AC over 20. On those, 20 is not going to be ...

Re: Table 1-2 Luck Score
Actually 'as written' only around one in four characters actually have a luck bonus, a similar number has a luck minus and the table is utterly irrelevant to half of the characters. Many people house rule this either giving all characters a blanket +1 or making their own chart up. Mine looks like th...

Re: A few questions
Question the first: The Wizard vs the Elf. Am I missing something or is being an Elf like being a Wizard but way more awesome? There is the iron thing, but other than that the Elf seems way better. This question comes up a lot, In principal Elves have the same number of spells (previous poster is f...

Re: My problem with Mighty Deeds
I think you are looking at this from the wrong perspective. The bonus to hit confered by the deed die is not a stand alone thing it is part of the 'to hit' roll. A first level Warrior rolls a D20+D3 whilst a first level Thief or Cleric rolls just a D20, a fourth level Warrior rolls a D20+D6 whilst a...

Re: Fighter Trumps Dwarf Fighter
I give Dwarves a bonus to hit using Axes in melee on the basis that these are the military equivalent of the hafted tools they use in mining, masonry and so on. Dwarves also engage in the time honoured traditional drinking game of 'Hurl till you hurl' which involves dwarves Hurling hand axes at a ta...

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
Here's what I added to halflings, partially because I don't like the double weapon vibe. Bullseye! Advantage to attack rolls (2d20, use the better roll), when hurling slings, darts and daggers. Roll a d20 for all Thiefly skills instead of d12. Add Luck Die to all Saving Throws As connoisseurs of fi...

Re: Why is it called funnel?
Foolish Peasants & Yeoman are concentrated together as a funnel might do and are then ‘funnelled’ through the underworld.
I guess the funnel refers to the gathering of the hapless at the beginning of the game rather than the thinning out by the end of it.

Re: Converting over to DCC
Hey Mr.Hemlocks :) I actually LOVE the lack of class and race options in DCC lol. Each to their own though :) It's one of the big selling points for me. I love Race as Class too. Guess which D&D I grew up with ? I like how DCC takes that idea and really makes each one special and fun. Amen to t...

Re: Making the Dwarf more unique
I think the general idea is how to make Dwarfs more their own thing, not more powerful. Like most here, I like the class as written, but I do agree that they could use something to stand out more. Does the Dwarf stand out any less than the Warrior? In simple terms the Warrior is a better fighter th...

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
Warriors are, of course, better warriors than halflings in the long run. However, a halfling rolls two attacks at 2d16, and unlike other classes, scores a critical hit on a 16. That means he has just over a 12% chance of scoring a critical hit each round. The 1st level warrior has a 10% chance, and...

...but the Halfling whose primary purpose is combat... This is where the analysis is breaking down for me. I've not considered the Halfling to be 'primarily for combat'. They're good in combat, they can sneak around and take advantage of their height, and they are rather more lucky than the average...

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
Halflings can be quite fun to play, but you are right - they are seldom the star of the show. The ability to literally save others lives in the party by being a good luck charm is extremely rewarding, though. No, they are not great hand to hand specialists like warriors and dwarves, or even as good...

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
This game seems to also defy cold analysis. The extreme dependence on so many random rolls throws can throw numbers on a page in doubt. There have been lots of stories of people rejecting the entire game as not worthwhile until they actually played it and then changed their tune. And in what contex...

DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D source
I suggest that the DCC Halfling is seriously short changed compared to the other classes: DCC bases its characters on Basic D&D (Good decision) and other than having a D6 rather than a D8 hit points the D&D Halfling was as good at fighting as the Dwarf and the Fighter (The Dwarf and Halfling...

1) No proliferation of AD&D classes (Bard, Ranger, Monk)
2) No additional class options for non-humans
3) clearer rules for Elven vulnerability to Iron, Bronze armour etc. (mine for example )
5) More fab art
6) Another 0 level funnel adventure

Re: Patron Problems- The Three Fates
The obvious answer is that they don't adventure together. Their 'punishment' is that they have to alternate, one out and about with the party and the other at home, essentially halving their XP opportunities. Or one changes patron................. I would say this is a pretty hefty breach from the p...
