I can only speak to the durability of the regular cover 2nd printing since
I keep my 1st print and wizard cover copies safely on the shelf. But my
2nd printing "table copy" has seen plenty of abuse and is holding up quite well.

Re: DCC RPG Alternate Cover #2
Only one more alternate cover planned at the moment. Probably just one a year, tops. At least, that's what I'm saying now. :) I have to admit I don't mind the idea of seeing my shelf gradually fill with a line of tomes with more of Doug's amazing Appendix N style character portraits all in a row......

Re: Curious about the DCC RPG crowd...
Christmas 1978 I was 12 and a good friend and I both asked for and got the Holmes blue box D&D set. Weekends at the dining room table became the center of our lives. So many adventures. A few years later I had the 1st Ed hardcovers and I literally had those books memorized from endlessly fiendin...

Re: That's a cool T-shirt
I vote yes for Kickstarter - it's a no-lose proposition, right? We at least get the shirt design as
it exists now plus if enough people jump in we stand to maybe get another design and/or lower
price as well, correct? I mean, why would anyone who wants a shirt be against that?

Came here just now to ask about the spine art.
I have the first printing but would like one with the index.

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!
Joseph's response to all of this discussion is honest and to-the-point. We all know that shipping damage happens. I thought that the packaging could have been better and that Media Mail left the boxes in the loving care of the postal service for too many days which means more days for fragile books ...

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!
Wow. My book arrived in good shape but looking at this thread I think it's reasonable to say that 'media mail' shipping plus the way these books were boxed pretty well sucked. Lots of books were banged up. I think we'd all have paid a couple dollars more for shipping in a box that actually protected...

Re: DCC is DDNext
In a couple of weeks we'll have a good look at D&DN for free. I keep thinking that turning away from the OGL model was WotC's real mis-step. Giving people a more progressive and open system and then saying "nope, sorry, we take that back" is pretty self-defeating. Going backward doesn'...

I think I had a Hollow World box set back in the day, does that sound
right? One of various settings I bought because I liked the concept
but never played. Would work really well with DCC RPG I think.

a PDF only or what format? Thanks, looking forward to it, looks promising!

Re: Representin', as the younger hip kids say.
I think there is some potential for a crossover between DCC RPG and the 'Beginner Box'
version of Pathfinder RPG, which is a stripped-down 'rules-lite' version of Pathfinder/3.5
d20 engine without most of the fiddly 3.5 stuff for movement/combat/character build etc.

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!
I was worried when I saw the type of box the book came in because in my own experience the USPS is awfully good at banging box corners and bending up books inside. Luckily my copy was fine but yeah, you should give customer service the opportunity to make it right before getting TOO upset, these thi...

Re: DCC is DDNext
I really appreciate what Paizo have accomplished with Pathfinder but I also want to play a weird & wonderful old-school/Appendix N RPG and for that only DCC will scratch that itch. Goodman Games and Paizo are very different companies but they are both doing a great job of playing to their own st...

Do they not make the 12-die GS sets in opaque?
The precision dice in simple opaque colors
look like the dice that came with my Holmes box set in 1978.

Re: The pre-order shipments have left the printer!
I have decided that the wait for the DCC RPG book to appear is
part of a clever spell to make me young again...as I wait as eagerly
for the mail-person each day as I did when I was a child waiting
for my box of Sea Monkeys or some such thing I'd "sent away" for.

Re: What do you have in minds for your players?
I'm thinking of running a game of Call Of Cthulhu where the PCs enter the Dreamlands and then wander into a Lankhmar/Appendix N world and become 0-level DCC RPG characters, and have some thematic link or continuous quest across the 3 settings. Maybe the PCs would be investigating the mysterious disa...

Judge's screen I'd vote for portrait but 4-panel and super high quality/thick
Hmm, would love to see a Spell Grimoire book, a monster book (Cthulhu mythos please)
and a Judge's Book with more gods/demons/patrons and magic items and lots of
random weirdness tables.
