The online store has it — but only in PDF...

The additional modules are still available in print, FWIW.

Re: Dice woes

Does anyone else at the table have an issue with it? The whole point of getting together to play a game, is to have fun together. If this one person's behavior is reducing everyone else's fun , then they should understand that the right thing to do is stop. OR: Maybe they'd be up for choosing their ...

Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower

Coward that he is, Kuruz continues to move back, making way for Mercer and Dejah to move up. If they can drop a side of mystery beef on a wolfant, they will (agility checks? attack rolls?) -- otherwise they continue to move forward with the slab o' meat. Zend brings his shovel around on one of the w...

Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower

Init: 12 Kuruz drops his cheese-lure and takes up his club, trying his best to stay away from the bugs. If one gets near him, his attack is 19 ! & damage 3 ! Zend surges forward to smash bugs with his shovel! Attack 15, damage 4! Mercer and Dejah are (I think) deeper into the room and thus furthest ...

Re: Non-Magical Healing / Survival Mechanics

For the healer, yes, they can treat wounds and such. Having them stop bleeding is a great idea. In any instance, go to page 66 and decide, based on the nature of the wounds if the DC is 5 or more (IMO) and have them roll an INT check to stop bleeding. In other cases, maybe they can make a check to d...

Re: Frequency of Mercurial Magic

I ran a couple games once for a group, and one guy playing a Wizard was very disappointed in his spells, primarily because of MM. Then in the first encounter, he realized he could cast the force wall thingy and get a shower of frogs (centered on himself) that fell so hard they did damage.... When he...

Re: mighty deed disadvantage

Deeds are tremendous fun. After playing this long with them freely available, it'd feel like removing fun from the game to nerf them.

It's what Warriors and Dwarves do.

Re: Magic - Choose Which Higher Effect?

Magic is strange and unpredictable... The phlogiston would seem to have a will of it's own. Some spells specify that you can choose a lower result -- most do not. I do houserule that a player can burn Luck to lower a result for a spell that doesn't normally allow taking a lower result, if that's wha...

Re: Frequency of Mercurial Magic

Yeah, magic is meant to be weird and scary. Mercurial Magic is part of what gets things there. It also makes DCC not a D&D clone. If you don't like how it changes spells, it's easily dropped or changed. But as it is, it provides a lot of interesting possibilities, not the least of which to motivatio...

Re: Frequency of Mercurial Magic

Absolutely correct me if I've got it wrong, but it sounds like you're rolling Mercurial effects anew with each casting... The intent is to "define" a Mercurial effect when the spell is gained, and it is then fixed. Your version of Magic Missile is different from my version of Magic Missile, because ...

Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower

Zend lets go of the sword in shock, probably causing everyone else holding to lose their grip as well(?). "What spirits inhabit this thing?!" Mercer and Dejah cautiously move forward to collect the heads, assuming they have value above, even though they aren't rat heads. Kuruz wraps scraps of fabri...

Re: How to handle player losing all their characters

I think that the key to a funnel is that you aren't supposed to be invested in any of your "zeroes"... I'm going to be a counterpoint to that thought by saying you can never go wrong by investing in your Zeroes. The game is always more fun when you bring those suckers to life, even if some of them ...

Kuruz , the shabbiest of the whole bunch down here, smelling like soil and stale beer, pipes up. "Mebbe, which ever way we goes, we can make use of them scraps o' cloth and leather..." He opens a thick-leather pouch on his belt, revealing that it is full of a viscous yellow-orange liquid. "You two ...

Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower

On the descent, Zend uses his flint and steel to light one of Dejah's torches. At the bottom, taking care in case the cavern floor is slippery or tricky to walk on, she steps off the platform to light one of the torches in the sconces, if they'll ignite. Mercer hitches the small sack he owns onto hi...

Mercer: "If we should find other pests, can we assume extra pay -- say double -- for any such heads we find?" Mercer will want to negotiate and haggle for a better rate for other heads (should there be any to collect), but we can do this with a Per roll if that'll simplify things (Per 13). Dejah: "L...

Re: Players wanted: High time for a new PBP

I used Purple Sorcerer, but the pencil-and-paper, by-the-book method is fine, too. If by 'rolling for equipment' you mean a random roll on the equipment chart, that's standard, so I'm going to say do it. You can then spend your randomly determined cp on more equipment, as is standard. Judge Y: "For ...
