Screams into the darkness "Anybody out there?"
And after his echo dies all that can be heard is the uninterrupted rhythm of the crickets.

Looking for DCC game in Waterbury, Connecticut area
Want to start or join a group of DCC RPG players in the Waterbury Connecticut area.
I have been playing DnD since 1980 in all its forms (very little 4e) and Pathfinder.
Love the look and feel of the rules and really want to start playing. Can GM but would prefer to be a PC at first.

On line DCC
Simply, what do I need to play DCC (or any other RPG) on line?
I'm not asking about a play by post game.
I know I'll need Skype, but what else?
Once I get set up is there anybody out there looking for a player.

DCC in western Connecticut
Is there anyone in the Waterbury Connecticut area that might be interested in starting a DCC campaign. The gaming group that I am in now has pretty much fallen apart. Thursday nights are good and I might be able to pull in a few guys from my old group. If not Friday or Saturday is good for me but no...

Re: Jumping for distance.
Personally, I'd tend more toward defining distances as in 'jumpable', 'not jumpable', and 'maybe jumpable', and make the die roll only for the 'maybe' category. Also, I'm not sure how switching from a d20 vs. a stat is more random than a fixed d5 or d3 for total footage that creates much the same s...

Jumping for distance.
Just wanted to see what you all think about a house rule for "jumping for distance" I don't like the idea of a d20 roll to see if the PCs make the jump or fail. It is a bit to random. A running jump; The height of the character (inches rounded down to the nearest foot) + Str bonus/penalty ...

Re: Character Goals (aka. DM plot hooks,)
I'm currently playing a character in a campaign that started the game with amnesia (spelling?). The GM and I have had fun with it. He will on occasion throw a curve at me about my characters past, or an NPC will walk up and start talking to my character like a long lost friend. That's how my PC lear...

Re: Music of DCC
I have to agree with a lot of the bands mentioned above.
I like listing to soundtracks from movies when I play. I'd have to go with the original Conan movie.

Two-Handed Weapons are not "Great" weapons
I have noticed one thing in the rules that I feel needs to be addressed (sorry if I'm re-hashing something) The damage for two-handed weapons is not so great. Why take a battle axe (1d8) and lose your AC bonus for a shield and take an init. penalty to boot when you could take a long sword and shield...

Re: Game vs. Story
"Game vs. Story", or should it read "Game instead of Story"
IMO story has suffered because of rules bloat. A lot of players now roll play and don't ROLE PLAY, especially the younger ones. Maybe video games should take some of the blame too.

Check page 4 of the Limiting Corruption thread: http://www.goodman-games.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=45724#p45724 That shows how things are going, somewhat... Thanks for the link. As I read it, when a wizard gains levels and becomes a better caster the chance of failure stays about the same, but the...

Spell Loss
Does it seem to anyone else that the Lost/Failure on the spell charts are a bit to severe? Get the spell off or loss it.
How about; The spell is lost on a roll of 1 to 9, but on 10 or 11 it just fizzles and the caster still keeps the spell.
What do you think?

Re: Weapons: Two-Handed Sword, X-bows, and Equalizing Damage
After reading the weapon damage chart I have to agree. There isn't much of a reason to take a two handed weapon :( . The occasional 2 extra points of damage does not make up for the -4 to initiative and lack of shield bonus. 1d12 damage sounds like a simple enough fix to me. "abk108's" dou...

Re: Magic Items
In response to Abchiptop's last point in his post, I agree. If memory serves, in 1e a fighter got to pick 4 weapons to start with that he was proficient with. Magic users got 1 weapon, thieves got 2, and clerics got 2. If a character used any other weapon he/she incurred a penalty to his attack roll...

Re: Magic Items
I do agree with most of the above. Although multiples of lesser permanent items like +1 swords and +1 rings of protection might not be a game breaker. My original thought was, if it were to costly to make magic item (giving up XP and injury or death) it might happen less. Thus the game isn't flooded...

Magic Items
I've always liked "low magic" stories and RPG's. The idea that magic items are rare and/or special is appealing to me. With that said, are there any rules in the pipeline for magic item creation? And if so I would like the writers of DCC RPG to consider this. When a magic item is created i...

New to DCC RPG
Hi All, I'm new to this site, so let me say firstly that I really like what Goodman Games is doing with DCC RPG. I've been playing DnD in all it's forms for going on 30 years and to me at least, and possibly some others, the latest versions of the game have really strayed from original feel of the g...
