Re: dccrpg binding

Are people trying to keep that from happening? I certainly don't think you should glue the sewn portion to the spine. My problem is that, aside from that separation, the "cloth" piece between the pages and the spine has separated from the pages. The piece I'm talking about is black and wh...

Re: Appendix N broken down by references

Gary Gygax was friends with Gardner Fox, and enjoyed his work very much. Although I have no doubt that Fox's barbarian heroes were Conan-inspired, I would have to agree with the OP's source that Fox and Fritz Leiber were also important sources. RC AFAIK Gardner Fox was the first author to use the w...

Re: Anybody daring to swear he doesn't roll concealed? ;)

I don't roll concealed. The only exceptions are certain skill type checks, where the pc wouldn't be immediately aware of his success or failure (searches, thief stuff, etc.) I don't fudge my dice, period! This instills in my players confidence in my impartiality and sheer terror at what that sometim...

Re: DCC RPG- having problems getting it to work for me/us.

Fortunately, I only run old school games nowadays, so anyone who's played at my table knows what they're getting themselves into. :P All that aside, there's enough fiddly bits that I wouldn't try running DCC without thoroughly grounding myself in the rules. Also, I'm used to handling crits ad hoc, u...

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!

Btw, I'm not in any way trying to make light of the all too justified frustration with the supposed professionalism of our esteemed federal pony express bureaucracy. I mean the US postal service or Goodman Games--who's to blame, that's a no brainer. In fact we'd be a lot better off if Goodman Games...

Re: I think the printer should be done with the books soon.

The pre-order shipments should leave the printer middle of next week -- probably by Tuesday or Wednesday. The printer is in the midwest...check your UPS grid for delivery timelines thereafter. :) When I ordered, I listed a PO box as my shipping address. As I understand it, UPS will not deliver to P...

Re: paper quality

As long as we are on the subject - I am also using Smythe-sewn binding. That means nothing to most people but it is the difference between a heavily-referenced RPG falling apart at the binding or not. Smythe-sewn features an adhesive binding AND sewn threads to hold the binding together. All those ...

Re: Percentage Thief Skills

Granted, I don't mind thieves simply being really good at ability checks, but, yeah, do something special with them. They shouldn't be just really good they should be significantly better . Anyone can "hide". Any thing can be hidden for that matter. I'm hiding behind a keyboard right now!...

Re: Selling DCC to my group

I have a similar problem. A couple of members of my gaming group will play anything - as long as it's fantasy, but one player pretty much refuses to play anything but 3E/Pathfinder because of "all of the character options provided by Feats." Ironically, even though he always points to all...

Re: Percentage Thief Skills

My last post didn't show up, so let's try this again. I like the %. Not married to the idea, though. My problem with a d20/DC thing, is the whole "moving the goal-post" thing. "No, I'm sorry, you're not really a high-level thief! This lock is DC 50! So there!" High level, badass ...

Re: Percentage Thief Skills

+D30...ha! Ironically the thief skill system was d20 based for the first year of playtesting. I just changed it a month or two ago. The thief class just wasn't quite "special" enough. I think the use of the Luck die really made a difference in that. So far the reaction to % skills in game...
