Re: DCC RPG- having problems getting it to work for me/us.
I'll try to limit this to my experience running the game. A lot of it has to do with pacing and keeping the action moving. Whether or not DCC is the right game is for each individual group to decide. 1. There are a TON of tables. Easy and fast access to these is extremely important in order to avoid...

The cover is fantastic, and I'm really glad I was too lazy to make one, because I couldn't have made it that awesome.

Re: Max Hit Points
I have them re-roll hitpoints every level. If they get higher, they go up. If they get lower, they stay the same. Same here. If for some reason they start at level 1 or above instead of level 0, then they can roll twice and take the better result. I like this method because it causes hp amounts to ...

Races of Outland
I've put together a document listing all the PC races in my home setting of Outland. It is written with LBB-only OD&D in mind, but would be very easy to use with DCC by doing the following: 1. Ignore any indication of race in Table 1-3: Occupation (e.g. "Elven Glassblower" becomes simp...

Re: Stomp the typo!
On page 90, the first result in the Trips and Throws table states: The warrior can knock an enemy off-balance. The enemy gets a Ref save against the warrior’s attack roll. Failure means the enemy is knocked prone and must spend its next attack action standing up. Remember that melee attacks against ...

Re: Stomp the typo!
I'm not sure if this is a typo or not, but it sticks out. On page 71, Table 3-1: Weapons The garrote damage is listed as "1/3d4" I just wanted to verify that it is correct, since no other weapons do only 1 point of damage, so it looks suspect. Another one... I hope these aren't devolving i...

Re: Free RPG Day?
I ran Matt Finch's Pod-Caverns of the Sinister Shroom using DCC Beta last year, and we had a blast. I'll probably do it again this year. At this point I'm leaning towards The Ghost Tower of Inverness, but who knows where I'll end up. I have big time ADD with game stuff! (I like to run something othe...

Re: What do you have in minds for your players?
Lots of great ideas, and I'm a big Pirates of Dark Water fan as well. I have a stack of about 30 D&D/AD&D modules, which I will be selectively placing around my home world of Outland. Tegel Manor is definitely going in as well. Also, I think I linked this a long time ago, but here it is agai...

Re: Firing into Melee
I'm not familiar with the actual DCC rule for this, so I'm not going to say anything about good/bad/indifferent with regard to that rule. However, this is what I have been using for a long time, it works great, and it's dead simple: You may fire into melee. Sure, go ahead! If you hit, awesome, great...

An Alternate Thief Skill System
For those like me that prefer something other than the "difficulty class" (DC) type checks, I made this system, which should be very easy to bolt on to your thief class if you so desire. It feels very DCC-ish to me. In fact, I cooked it up after I spent some time reading the PDF, so Joe an...

Fire and Ice (1983 iirc)
Black Death (recent, and very good)
Zardoz
Alien
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (not appendix N but a good representation on what a lot of my D&D games end up looking like)

Why did they leave out the Ranger class? Re: A few questions
Are there plans for a free version of the rules? The two standards seem to be either a no-art PDF or an SRD site (like this one or this one)
Of course I plan to buy the books, but these types of resources are indispensable for getting new players into a new game.
