Re: "roll" weird die by turning pages in the DCC RPG?
Sorry, I didn't mean for a boxed set to be the only version; more of a "Collector's Edition" version, which I would certainly be interested in.

Re: "roll" weird die by turning pages in the DCC RPG?
I'd certainly be in for a boxed set with the Rulebook, dice, GM screen, etc. Throw in a special edition adventure and you're golden :) My group paid $100 for the WFRP 3e boxed set without a second thought. If you're giving us value for the cost then the actual cost really doesn't matter to us, espec...

Re: Luck to survive?
I love the idea of rewarding players for creative ideas, good RPing, etc. Whether it's bennies in Savage Worlds or Fortune in WFRP, my group has always responded well to this sort of mechanic and I'm really tempted to reward them with Luck when we start our DCC campaign. What do you guys think?

Re: Monsters
GnomeBoy wrote How often do you expect to need their stats? I'm not trying to make that question a challenge, I'm just thinking that for myself, as the sole guy DMing for my group the last 2-and-a-half years, I look up a monster's stat maybe once in 8 or 9 encounters, and even then it's for one abi...

Re: Monsters
Too abstract for me. Using that logic, you can just make up what you need "on the fly" including damage, saves, special attacks, etc. and do away with a monster section altogether. I understand that DCC wants to eliminate a lot of the "crunch" and focus on the game but, as a DM, ...

"Bonus Die" perhaps? I mean, it does add the bonus to attack and damage in addition to the cool MDoA stuff.

Re: Scrap the XP table. One table to rule them all
I'm not a fan of different xp tables as I want to reward my players, who will all have gone through the same trials and adventures, at the same time. One player should not get the benefit of advancing sooner than others just because he plays a different class.

Re: Weapon Training (Page 16)
I like changing the die type as well, since it will apply throughout all levels. As an aside, I'm reading these boards and find myself second guessing which is the "Action" and which is the "Attack" die.

What I really liked at first glance
1) A goal of fast, evocative combat.
2) Unique rules that encourage storytelling.
3) Charts galore!

Re: Monsters
Ze Groupe I'm not asking for stat blocks, actually i'd prefer everything to just be a GM creating DC's for tasks based on what he thinks is required. What i am saying (again), is that if you include Opposed Roll rules, which then give an example using Orcs, that Orcs should then have a Strength sta...

Re: Monsters
I'm of the mindset that monsters need stats as well. One of the selling points of DCC is PCs being able to "improv" and having monster stats will help DMs determine success rate, imo.

Re: Paging Joseph Goodman!
We're definitely going to pre-order, but were waiting to see if there would be a combo "DCC Rulebook + Zocchi Dice" package offered. We certainly don't want to miss out on the goodies though, so if you could just answer that question we'll get on it!

Re: Warrior mechanics
Since a dual wielding warrior will typically be rolling d16+d14, does that mean he'll crit on a max roll ("16" on d16, etc.) provided he hits?

Re: Warrior mechanics
That sounds really, really freakin awesome One question though: why would a fighter not want to dual wield? It seems to me (from the outside looking in) that a fighter would always choose multiple attacks rather than a 2hander or sword and board, for instance.

Re: So, what about combat?
I understand that each class will have its own crit chart to roll on, but will the crit descriptions on each chart vary based on weapon type, i.e. piercing/slashing/blunt?

Re: So, what about combat?
Keeping initiative "vanilla" in the core book makes a lot of sense, given the "keep it simple" mantra and the number of PCs (at 0 level anyway). I can see our group utilizing the Zocchi dice, though, by lowering "die type" for initiative based on armor/weapon type. Brin...

Re: Another Contest Idea for DCC RPG: Monsters!
Will the uber-monsters/BBEG in modules have their own Critical Charts (if they're not covered in the core book)? That would be sweet, for the DM anyway and would give the modules value even after they've been played.

Races as Classes
I'm really stoked about the DCC RPG. Everything I've read thus far sounds awesome, except for one thing: races (other than human) as classes. I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that a game based on classic fantasy literature would say that the only difference between Legolas, Elrond and Galad...
