Re: No Skill Chapter

Joseph - thank you for taking the time to share your philosophy. I absolutely agree with you. I think the challenge is whether or not to scale challenges. Metagame theory would suggest that all things being equal, a 10th level Thief should be challenged to the same degree as a 1st level one. Otherwi...

Re: No Skill Chapter

I'm in favor of just going with a Class die and being done with it. It's simple, consistent (Thieves and Fighters already have it), and establishes a marked differentiation between class checks on non-class checks. I am firmly of the opinion that if you don't have something in your background that s...

Re: Hit points: What are they?

Even OD&D was 1-3 HP per full day of rest. I definitely like the complete abstraction of HP. Maybe a standard award could be something like 1d3+Level+CON Bonus. You get this bonus: Milestone (e.g. narrative moral victory; cleared the goblin cave; defeated a chieftain; acquired a quest item) Post...

Re: Why no "WIS" Wisdom stat

The question is - what is dramatically interesting? Is it part of the narrative to do a listen check for every door? Going by OD&D as a guide (which was 1 in 6), everyone had about DC 18 to listen through a door, which makes DC 10 when not through a door sensible as well. If you don't like modif...

Thank you. Not wanting to pay for Illustrator I will continue my Inkscape route. I have built a small number of standard symbols and they work well. You are the second cartographer to say Illustrator so that must be the route to go.

I have that pack. Is that what GG is using, or is it something else, do you know?

I like Dundjinni a lot but it isn't vector based and for larger maps I like to play around with my placement of objects.

Program used by GG to make the clean, simple, old school map

What program are you using to make the nice, clean, line maps for most of your modules?

I very much like the full color art filled ones you publish, and use them when I run my games, but I also like the clean maps you have and would like to make my own.

Thanks.

Hackmaster actually has a good rule for this. Fatigue Factor is CON/2 Fatigue Check is (CON+WIS)/2; d20 less than or equal to FF is the # of rounds you can fight without exhaustion. After that, make a Fatigue Check every round. If you fail: -1 STR & DEX To d20-ize it, I'd make the FF CON/2 and t...
