ideas for new tech related feats...

just had an idea for a new tech-related feat... field maintainance you can maintain a number of steam powers in the field. prerequisite: int 13+, 2 ranks in craft(mechcraft), membership in an organization that regularly uses steam powers benifit: you can maintain 1 steam power, +1 per five character...

wha? in the case of bonuses, do the mechs' respective pilots have the mech dancer feat? as for penalties and those mechs lacking pilots with mech dancer, i bet they're typoes or mis-prints (or someone not paying attention when they write the stats) though, in terms of hitting, does a change of AC fr...

man power alternatives?

doing some research for a different setting (had an idea or a mobile fortress that's an animal drawn wagon on the scale of a small castle, NM) a possible 'sixth' mech power source= draft animals could you run a mech using animals on treadmills? there are plenty of examples of animal powered devices ...

here's a fun house rule varient for flame nozzel (and other cone type weapons) make a single ranged attack roll, and that's the reflex DC for avoiding damage (save for half or save to avoid?) that gives you the excuse to be rolling a d20 AND factors player skill with the weapon (it's an exotic weapo...

heh, "Who knows what evil lies within the heart of man?" (or other humanoids, for that matter) planes are pretty standard, i should think, unless you want to get fancy (consider this: the only terestrial god mentioned is dotrak, the rest are from whatever campaign world you want to steal t...

the group i usually play with is 1 DM (we play at his house in his campaign when we get enough players together) and 4 to 8 players, myself included in general, we usually have teh DM and five players around the table, since not everyone can show up every game we only really play the one campaign, s...

i would rule that, as long as you have a coglayer handy to perform daily maintainence on your steam device, you can use it... i don't know about proficiency... the coglayer and steam power descriptions don't mention it, but i would assume that proficiency in steam devices is standard with the classe...

that was more a comentary on how little we play than anything else (once a week, but we skip weeks when people are out of town or unavailable, so it's more like 1-3 times a month) you could also introduce mechs to your campaign world wihtout the lunar rain... say, an invasion of mechs from another u...

you could always take the non-port route, too... and ahve the lunar rain begin to fall on your current campaign world, dirving the PCs underground ...many years pass... the players found shelter with wherever (you oculd put an adventure into this bit) and have just recently heard of the mechs now be...

the pieces can't be individually masterworked if you re-read my post, you'll se that i meant that a suit requires four time the normal masterworking cost and four checks (instead of one) to create the masterwork component, and i never meant for the four pieces to be individually created. this would ...

with the exception of cloaks, capes, mantles, robes, hats, belts, and circlets, armor would go over or take the place of everything on that list (and any of the above could be worn under armor, though would not nessesarily have it's effect while worn so) from the exceptions i listed, i would say tha...

personally, i would rule that you couldn't put on anything that wouldn't fit along with the gauntlets, boots, and helm gloves, circlets, hats, socks (are there any magic socks? there are now :P ) would be OK, but they wouldn't function if they needed to directly touch the target (glove of storing, f...

thanks :D i figure the main focus for my design, as a mid-ranged mech, is to clear out the smaller enemy mechs (anti-infantry mechs, for instance) on the opposing side... the saws on the knees (i'm sketching a rough exterior design) are mounted about 12 feet of the ground at the hub, and five feet i...
