Goodman Games products in German?

Post by Argamae »

I am not aware whether there are foreign-language versions of Goodman Games products already on the market, but I would like to know if you have thought of it.

Since the selection of available adventure modules in German is rather limited (especially for D20) I would like to offer to do translation work for DCC modules. I have studied translation and have already undertaken one project for White Wolf some years' back: TRINITY: SHATTERED EUROPE, translating the soucebook into German ("Europa in Trümmern"). So you can at least expect a certain quality in the work I do.

For starters, I would offer this as a "labor of love" since I like the DCC series so much. So, do you see any chance of this happening?

Regards, Argamae (Olaf)

I'm glad you're interested in this, because it just so happens that we recently signed a translation agreement with a German publisher. Within a couple months you will be able to purchase German language editions of Dungeon Crawl Classics modules. More details to be announced when the products are ready!

Sheesh... so I am too late, am I? ;)
Well, that's good news, anyway! Could you reveal that publisher so I can approach them with a translation offer? That would be swell!

I'll make sure the German publisher sees this thread in case they wish to contact you.

Well, I am more than proud to announce that I am now officially in charge of the German translation of DCC modules! Guess I am the lucky guy after all... :D

The first one to tackle is IDYLLS OF THE RAT KING. Already on it! So, wish me luck, fellow fans. Maybe Goodman Games will become a recognized company name in Germany as well...

Alright, IT IS DONE!

DCC #1 "Idylls of the Rat King" (German title: "Die Idyllen des Rattenkönigs") is finally translated and at the printer. Below you can see the German cover.

But this is only the beginning... I have begun work on "Into The Wilds" (German title: "Die Schrecken der Wildnis") and "Legacy of the Savage Kings" (German title: "Das Vermächtnis der Barbarenkönige") is also being translated. I am really excited about how it will work out...

I think this is great news for the German fans! Once the first translation is available for sale, look for direct links on the front page of our web site -- just in case anyone here wants to pick up the German version as well as the English one.
