Did we mention the 500-page boxed set we're working on for Gen Con?

Just got the cover art in...

More details to come. :)

hmmm... let's see: the depicted encounter shows a destrachan and several dwarfs - probably derro - so that we can assume an EL of 10 or higher, leading me to the hopeful conclusion that this box contains a mega-adventure or campaign for PCs of at least 6th level - which would be perfect for my own PCs, who will have reached no more than level 5-6 by June/July :D

I believe the cover art's by William McAusland, who also did the cover art for the original DCC World boxed set.

Your right, he also did the cover o DCC 1 second printing. Probably others, but I am too lazy to look.

more speculation:
mountain keep, red dragon, dwarven ruler - an attack of Azaegal's Hold? Death to the Mountain King and his draconic ally?

Yeah, would this happen to have Harley's name as author would it?

I agree with Cardinal, this seems to have "Mountain King" written all over it.

Sorry guys, this one isn't my baby. (And you'd have the right to be suspicious if the first thing I did as developer was give myself a 500 page project. :) ) As Joseph said, more will be revealed soon.

Superfan, re:Mapping. I have an email headed your way soon ...

Pffffftttt.

Do you seriously think any of us would complain if you did more writing projects?

:P

...Uhhh, I'm not a convention-head. When's Gen Con?

Thanks for the kind words. But I'm still gun shy from that era when the Gygax modules started to look the same. Better to write less often and ensure the quality, than get a lot of paychecks for re-runs.

August 16-19. Seems a long ways off, but already we're crunching to get the work done. :)

Are you anywhere in the area, Ogre?

Ah, a man of wisdom, history and creativity. Good point. I applaud the sentiment behind your thinking, and so does my wallet. However, I suspect you don't need to go so far back in gaming history to see the dearth of "originality". (I'm looking at the Cordells, the Mearls and the Cooks of the industry.) Uhh, not that I can write a better adventure myself, mind you... :?

Oh, yeah--just a casual stroll away! (I'm in Rochester, New York, just 577 miles from the convention center.) Bah. A mere walk for a manly-man such as myself. I can be there by sundown.

hmmm, this means about 12 sessions with my group before I can hope to have this beauty in my hands
- They're now Level 1-2, so, let's say 5 sessions until they reach level 4, then 3-4 sessions/level...

Just one question: what's the default entry level for this adventure?
7th or higher? - no problem! :D
6th or higher? - will work, if I watch those XP rewards closely... :)
5th? - maybe, just maybe... :?
4th or lower - well, I guess I'll have to start a whole new campaign...

i don't know what levels its for, but with 500 pages it must be for a big span, right?

a 32 page dcc covers 3 levels ....... so at 500 pages ....

...it could cover pcs from level 1 to level 46.875!

hah!

well, with 500 pages it could be a true Level 1-20 campaign - in which case I'd really start a new campaign - but I would gladly settle for a Level 6-16 mega-module :D

Careful, Ogrepuppy. Your support is no good if you're divorced and bankrupt. :)

So if this isn't Stroh's design, whose is it?
