Sagawork Studios presents: LANDS OF LEGEND!

Post by Ungoth »

--COMING IN 2012--
....it is said the elder races had powers beyond imagination; that even the lowliest of their sorcerers could command giant silver eagles to fly so high that the sky was no longer blue. But that time has passed: The elder races were destroyed and much of their magic has been lost. However, the legacies of their terrifying golden age lay waiting to be discovered....

...welcome then, adventurer --to the LANDS OF LEGEND!

Image

FROM THE BACK COVER:
The hardy people of Vale used to pay little heed to those seeking the treasures of Cloudmaker Mountain; for legends spoke often of its fabled halls and mysterious artifacts --and the Vale-Folk do not tremble at such bedtime stories. This changed a few years ago, when a dark-robed stranger came to the lake-town of Weir, seeking the ancient gates of the mountain. Only afterwards did the locals realize that the stranger was a necromancer – a fell acolyte of deathless kings – wanted for atrocities in his far-off homeland. But by the time a force powerful enough to bring him to justice was assembled, the mountain’s doors had boomed shut. Now years later, tribes of chaotics are on the march: They make for the mountain pass to wait for the time when those ancient doors will be cast open once more…
A man of action, the King of Vale has dispatched a lawful army to face them, but will that be enough? When frantic news of elder secrets is revealed, will your band brave the perils of Cloudmaker Mountain?

Andrew, this looks awesome! Sounds like a fun adventure and we certainly are going to need lots of quests for large groups of level-0 dudes to undertake. I can't wait for this!

(And I have to apologize for deleting the post the first time when I swept away the SPAM. I checked the mod logs and it's 100% my error. Joseph is going to have me flogged in the morning for my incompetence.)

Firstly, props to Joseph Goodman and the rest of Goodman Games for going above an beyond to ensure the above post got there: I've had a bit of computer trouble over the last few weeks. FYI: Coffee and Laptops = Bad. The good new is that a new laptop is under the xmas tree and I can get back to doing what I love in short order.

Now to business: Cloudmaker Mountain is the first adventure under the 'Lands of Legend' label. Its focus is heroic fantasy. If anyone has questions or comments about Cloudmaker Mountain or the new Lands of Legend Adventure Modules, please feel free :)

No need to apologize :) Being spam had been the least of my worries! I had been trying to get a wriggle-on all weekend, especially because you, Joseph and the rest of Goodman Games had been really patient with my lack of presence because of my coffee-flavored laptop. I also wanted to move the plot away from what was slowly becoming The Gates of Firestorm Peak (which playtesters likened it to). In the end, I think I wrote about 14 drafts of that blurb before posting it. If it helps, I sat on my laurels and treated myself to a good self-satisfied bash of Skyrim on the PS3....!

Hey, I have a question for the Sagaworks Studio guys. Are you guys still making stuff for Pathfinder? BTW this DCCRPC Title you are making sounds very cool.

Fair question.

To clarify, Sagawork Studios is a one person show, being Me. I always intended to go back to Pathfinder, but have difficulty keeping up with additions to the game. When I finally finished with the first few drafts of what was to be my next release (Temple of the Kraken), I realized that Pathfinder was quickly moving beyond the scope of what I was comfortable with as a fledgling designer. IMO, my adventures belong with the likes of Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG, and the various retroclones that are around.

That said, I like Pathfinder for what it is and what it has done. A few friends and I are slowly developing a space-opera version of Pathfinder that builds upon the existing classes and rules, which will allow enterprising players to turn regular adventure paths into a science-fiction saga --with a bit of work, of course. Thing is, it is still a long way off.

Just laughing a lot at something I recently noticed "For 16-24 0-1 level characters"

Not something you see often elsewhere

The cover art for this Cloudbreaker Mountain release looks fantastic! It just screams

"Here be adventure! Enter if ya dare!"

Congratulations on the upcoming release!

I'm wondering what the likely release of this is. Knowing that this is a one-man show, I can understand not knowing an exact date, but is it summer/fall/winter 2012?

Well I sure hope there's more to hear regarding this, but it isn't looking good. A quick look at the Sagawork Studios blog (1 post in January early this year) doesn't give anything more to go on than what's already available on this thread. :(

Amazing cover art and we are eagerly waiting for this new version to be released soon. I love playing fun adventure in games and this really looks like a great experience for that. Can you provide any wild guess when this new one is going to be released?
