The 13th Skull / The Balance Blade

Post by Zeiros »

My 13th Skull showed up today, another great read..hope to eventually get to run it.

I like Mr. Goodmans , hardcore Appendix N take, that things in the end, rarely have a happy ending.

Which leads me to "The Balance Blade". while I love the hardcore narrative aspects of this short adventure,

I think I may find my players being not to happy with this. Other than a campaign narrative

one shot, I can't find an "campaign" upside for the players here (other than the experience)

As your sacrificing the main protagonist, and may lose some others along the way.

I'm thinking with some modification, as some sort of dream sequence OR bumping it to level 4 characters or

so, when the players may be fine with retiring a few through an interesting situation as this.

anyone else read these yet?

Yeah there's a reason I suggested The Balance Blade for one-shots. I have run it many times at cons, which it works really well for, but in a campaign it would be tough. Although I like your suggestion of a dream sequence - that is a good idea for integrating it into ongoing play.

Finally picked up my pair of copies (one special cover and one standard, because I can't help myself) today, and have to say that somehow every module released makes me think "Wow, I just don't see how they could write one better than this."

...and the special covers, keep 'em coming and I'll keep buying more copies of the products than I can actually justify other than as an art collection.

This is weird the "2012 Free RPG Day Module" booklet just showed up on my doorstep (which I was expecting) but I haven't received my copy of "The 13th Skull" yet..

Any chance anyone wants to post an actual photo of the limited edition cover of this module? I love my LE rulebook, and I'm trying to decide whether I can justify getting the black/silver cover... maybe even framing the damn thing after I've run it...

I got one foil and one standard edition on their way to me. I feel kinda guilty about getting both as I have spent a lot this month already, but I just know that I am gonna enjoy them so much! :)

I ordered both foil & (what do you call the other "normal" beautiful covered one?) and they showed up last week. They are gorgeous as well as durn good reads! The shipment actually contained the adventures 67-71 and arrived in perfect condition! Yeee Haw!

I am really digging the love and care that are going into DCC! It shows. Thanks!

There's the skull cover and the terror-dactyl cover if you ask me.

Finally got around to getting the silver foil cover; it looks even cooler than I thought it would -- the pictures really don't do it justice.

I picked up the regular edition last year and hopefully will find the special edition cover soon. I was in the playtest for this module and was the guy who managed to save the princess. :) I want to run it for my regular group soon and see what solution they come up with.
