Old Dudes Play Sailors!

Post by Zeiros »

Hi,

Long time lurker here. while it was my obsession from about age 10 to 16. I have not physically played any tabletop RPG's in over 25 years. I have followed goings on with the game over the years as a side interest. The retro clone movement got me interested in the game again, and that's finally been crystallized by the DCC RPG. I ran "Sailors" this weekend, and we had grand old time. Being mainly a bunch of historical wargamers I'm sure I botched the rules here and there but the Adventure is playing out well. You can read about on this blog I started The Tower of Zeiros Only two posts so far but they'll give you a good idea what
we have going on..I plan to finish up next weekend. Great stuff on these forums!

Cheers from Zeiros!

Good news Zeiros! You can't botch the rules, you're the Judge!

From reading your blog posts, I have to say I dig your style, especially your delivery of the pregen characters - that move is right up my ally.

Keep posting, I'll keep reading... I'm a constant Judge (gamemaster, whatever term you like) myself, so I love seeing play reports. It is, for now, the closest I get to getting to take on the role of a player.

Exactly. And if you are concerned about botching rules, just scale back a little until you get more comfortable then add rules back in later. I suspect your players won't mind! 8)

Great play report. I would love to see the rest!
Good actual play write-ups are surprisingly hard to find. I am glad I came across this one.

The ending is fantastic!

It is such a good read that I don't want to post any spoilers, but the events culminating in this:
...followed by a lot of swearing and laughter.
... is the DCC RPG at its finest. Hoorah for the reavers!

(And don't turn your back on Sloan.)

Nice epilogue and after thoughts, which one does not see in many actual play reports.
I hope you put up some more examples in the future.

I just posted some thoughts on the Campaign, it's Map, Languages and putting it all together.. It,s been a longtime so any advice is well taken! thanks.

The Blogging about the Campaign continues. with a brief prelude to how we got here. We had to reschedule our above mentioned "Portal" Session but it is happening tomorrow night, The PC's include 3 of the 6 survivors from the Starless Sea and 12 new 0 level sacks of meat...who will survive!

Portal under the Stars report posted. 15 went in, 8 came out..not as bloody as I thought but some interesting things went on.. Once again Sloan proves she has nine lives.
Doom of the Savage Kings in the next few weeks...(hopefully)

Another great write-up. Probably the most interesting Portal under the Stars report I have seen as it didn't quite play out like most of the others. I particularly liked how the players used the Crystal Statues against the Barbarian statue.

Great report on Portal. Really interesting use of torches to lure the crystal statues into the other room - I have run this adventure many times and haven't seen any other group try that.

BTW I love that one character has the title "...the dog faced slave." Classic!
