20th century Authors/Filmmakers in Etherscope

Post by Mannak »

Do you guys think that Authors/Filmmakers from the 20th century (H.P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker, Dario Argento, John Carptenter, George A Romero, ect) would have still existed (and their work) in the Etherscope timeline?

Yes but only as parts of a strictly national subculture.

One thing about the Ether, you could "be" in a zombie movie or Indiana Jones...it's an infinite holodeck.

One inspiration for Etherscope is Jeff Noon's novel, Vurt. Vurt is a drug which allows those who take it to enter a shared dream. One Vurt feather (as they are called) I particularly remember is a reconstruction of the russian roulette scene from Deer Hunter. While we've moved away from this style of thing in the game, mainly cos it's more fun in a game to go on your own adventure than be a passive part of a drama, it's certainly still there.

Cheerio,

How "exact" is the feeling during an Ether experience? For example, you have a shooting range for big game hunting, would the rifle have the same weight, trigger tension, and recoil as the genuine article?

If you programmed it that way then yes it would.

More or less, given good programming, it would be something like virtual reality felt.
