Cool thread.

Ok....
  1. Just finished running Dark Moon Ascendant 3rd arc of an Alternity campaign I ran.
  • Burnt offerings by Pathfinder (very cool, pick it up). Sadly killed my players before the second part.
  • Playing in Tearing of the Weave (about to take a months hiatus).
  • About to run Eberron game (not sure what to name it, possibly Dark Tales of the Morgave Expeditionary club?), unfortunately as a 3.5 game. Should be 4th but players are being resistant.
  • Really want to run a 4th edition game using the Birthright setting (minor tweaks and history update). May have to take this one online though.
Thats all folks

I'm DMing two house ruled 3.5 pbp games on ENWorld.

1 is set on Bastion Press' Wildwood wilderness continent of the Oathbound Campaign Setting. I'm using both the DCCs Dungeon Interludes and Idylls of the Rat King heavily modified as the plot skeletons and since I've got a crashed sci-fi psi thing element going in this game the DCC with the Talons of the Horned King looks tempting to pick up.

2 is a Freeport Trilogy game where I placed the Pirate City State Island beneath the Tarsisian Empire in Ptolus (and set the empire into a theocratic civil war) with Egypt and Mesopotamianesque cultures to the Far South Continents and Diamond Throne Lands from Arcana Evolved to the far West and some rather undefined stuff to the far East.

Lots of sourcebooks used by players in both: the Dragon Articles on Warforged and shifters, Arcana Unearthed, PH II, Complete Arcane, Elements of Magic Lcyean Academy, Iron Heroes, Expanded Psionics Handbook, Deeds Not Words,

Our 3.5 campaign ended in a sudden TPK due to one bad decision and a string of bad rolls. After that we needed something to fill the void until 4E. We tried WEG Star Wars for awhile. Then we moved onto Deadlands. I love this game and can't believe that I missed it until now. We are having so much fun with it that we plan on continuing our campaign on Sat. even after we start 4E on our Wed. game night. I have also become addicted to Guitar Hero 3 and Dead Rising. If you like zombies get this game it is by far the best zombie video game I have ever played.

I loved me some Deadlands back in the day. From a metagame standpoint it needed some more character options (why NOT take Veteran of the Weird West?), but for flavor and fun it's hard to top.

Nothing these days (except Age of Wonders via email) as my masters program has sucked up all available time like a black hole.

I've got a group on hold in Steading of the Hill Giant Chief and another on the cusp of finding just how bad things have gone in the first act of Coils of Set. And there they remain. :(

Evidently, you are doing all the gaming I think about doing. Give me my games back...!
To all the list, I have to add that every other sunday, alternating with the 4E that I run, I'll play in a RIFTS campaign :yummy:!!!!! We have created the characters yesterday!

Your right about veteran o' the weird west. I looked at that and said why not. I was already playing a drunk so whats one more hindrance. Plus you get an extra 15 points to spend on character creation. I couldn't understand why no one else chose it. It only took me 15 minutes to write up a past/history. Something I like to do with a new character anyway. In addition to that, thanks to all those extra points, even drunk I can drill a zombie between the eyes without to much trouble.

I haven't been playing much of anything either. Life's attrition recently TPKed our gaming group. Our group started playing in high school about 25 years ago.

It looks like I've found some other people to start playing in a 4e campaign. That'll be good.

We are a 3.5 Core book only group with a few exceptions (some spells/feats in the PH2). I allow the XPH and Environmental books as well but no one has used them.

Im currently playing in Expedition to Castle Ravenloft (set in the Forgotten Realms 3.5) and taking a small break from DM'ing. We may not finish it in time before the current DM moves to the west coast the third week in September. At that time, Ill be starting up Rise of the Runelords from Paizo.

I want to get into a Goodman-based AP bad, either Castle Whiterock or one strung together with DCCs, I need more players in NYC!

I am currently playing two 3.5 games and one Savage Worlds game. This is my first experience with Savage Worlds (specifically we are playing the setting Necessary Evil and must say that I really like the system. It is very fast and very easy.

In an effort to revive this topic I would like to ask: What is everyone playing? My group is still playing Deadlands. I'm on my second of what I think might be a long line of characters. I'm a mad scientist who has had a ton of fun creatin gear for the party. However I'm not sure what is more lethal, my inventions or the undead devil worshippin zombies we keep runnin into. At some point I hope to come back as a harrowed dude. I think it would be a great roll playin challenge to play an undead mad scientist. I would be kind of like a lich. I would have eternity to perfect my time control machine. Muhwah-Ha-Ha-Ha!!!

My Saturday group will be playing board games until our holiday break around Thanksgiving. We have been playing Munchkin Cthullu lately. Afer the break we are supposed to start up a Mechwarrior campaign. I have only ever played the miniatures battle game a couple of times in high school. I think this should be fun. We have all really enjoyed playing these old games that have been gathering dust on our shelves for years.

I'm still in my once-or-twice monthly FUDGE game, still loving it.
Lately been running some 4E...playtests of upcoming modules and a demo of Isle of the Sea Drake.
That's about it...not much time to game, so busy writing them!

I'm still playing/running a lot of 4E. The 2 3.5 games have been converted one to Pathfinder, one to 4E.
My C&C game will soon stop, as I only have 3 players and one will go back to Germany.
I still play some Rifts, but I may stop to run one shots of various systems I own at the game shop on sundays.

I'm currently messing around with "Red Book" Basic/Expert D&D.

It's an interesting switch from 4E. :)

I find the stark simplicity of B/X D&D to be refreshing.

Of course, the downside of the game is also its stark simplicity. If you're DMing this game, get ready to houserule. A lot.

Almost forgot - I'm also trying to put together a Warhammer FRPG game. (That's assuming, of course, that I can manage to get some of my players together long enough to play ... )

This 'houseruling' you speak of, is what playing the game was back in the day.... :D

When I and my friends were 11, it did cause some strife. But I'm sure as adults, we can all roll with the DM.... 8)

The evidence suggests that even with the disagreements on rulings, some of us had enough fun that we're still playing these games umpteen years later...! :D

Oh, definitely. I actually don't mind it, provided that you have a group of players willing to roll with it.

My main concern with houseruling is usually just consistency. For example, a fighter wants to scale a 20-foot wall while wearing chainmail, and the rules only cover how thieves can climb walls. It takes some careful thought - and some note-taking - to make sure that how you handle a situation not covered by the rules gets handled the same way every time.

DM: No, you can't drink the potion and then attack in the same round. Each action takes one round.

Player: But that's what my fighter did last week! You said it was OK then!

But since I usually like simpler, leaner games, I'm willing to live with the perils of house rules. :)

Yeah, I hear you. But for me, as a player and as a GM, I'm fine with things working differently, because my sense of variables is broad, and I love mood and a good scene just that little bit more than precise rules. Hmm. Maybe a lot more....

That is why I still like referring to 3E. IT gives me a good and consistent base line from which to make such rulings. Then I be sure to write them down and then add them to my house rules PDF during the week.

I am currently running a C&Cized version of Sellswords of Punjar, I am playing a C&C version of an integrated RAvenloft I6 and Expedition, I am playing in a WArhammer, Gear Kreig, and Aces and Eights games, usually bi weekly. I love internet gaming! Better than face to face because I have time to play even more! A lot more! No, my games are not PbP (even though I will be starting one of those soon too) nor chat. We talk to each other via SKYPE and use Maptools as our game table. Tons of fun!

Just got Towers of Adventure last week so C&C is back up and underway (you know, we could use another C&C adventure here)
Everyone has their superhero rolled up for Heroes Unlimited so we are about to commence a campaign for it.
