I'm New to DCC RPG

Post by mummson »

I just bought the book of amazon and I haven't gotten hold of it yet (I have really small hands). But I have one question that I can't seem to find an answer to. That is.. what's with the editions? Are the all editions compatible or do they differ?

If the book has the answers I apologize on behalf of my ADHD and not being able to wait :)

I didn't mean the rule book, I meant this:

http://www.goodman-games.com/dcc-modules1e.html
http://www.goodman-games.com/dcc-modules3e.html
http://www.goodman-games.com/dcc-modules4e.html

It's those editions I don't really understand...

"Dungeon Crawl Classics" started out as a module line for 3.x era gaming.

There were also 4th Edition D&D DCC modules.

When Goodman Games decided to put out its own game, the modules followed suite. From 66.5 onward (Doom of the Savage Kings) all DCC modules are written specifically for the DCC rpg.
SoBH pbp:

Cathbad the Meek (herbalist Wizard 1): AC 9; 4 hp; S 7, A 7, St 10, P 17, I 13, L 8; Neutral; Club, herbs, 50' rope, 50 cp; -1 to melee attack rolls. Hideous scar.

It is also worth checking to see if your copy is thoroughly greased up. I think about 1-in-100 are -- that might explain things.

Mine seemed not greased enough .. so I criscoed it and that's when things got "out of hand".

Pleased to be of service, and welcome to the fold!

Please let me be the first to suggest that there are some really excellent third party DCC products out there for your enjoyment and the confounding of your players. Naturally, I would suggest anything by myself (Daniel J. Bishop), but also lots of stuff by other folks.

Or you could make a couple of characters and join a play-by-post game currently running on this site!

Welcome to DCC! Here are some more good resources to get you started:

A comprehensive list of DCC Resources can be found here: http://www.goodman-games.com/forums/vie ... 60&t=14791

A great listing of DCC third-party goodness can be found here: http://www.goodman-games.com/forums/vie ... 70&t=40169, including an overview of the amazing 'zine culture that has sprung up around DCC.

Another great way to get the lay of the land is by listening to the excellent Spellburn Podcasts at http://Spellburn.com.

(And lots of DCC folks and potential online players can be found in the DCC groups on Google+ and the Dungeon Crawl Classics Facebook page.)
