Ok. It's group initiative dodd, so we'll have to go with that 1 for your pair.

Red Robert, Honest John go first
Then Marvin (Xim is out cold)
Then Bad Guy
Then Jenkins and Joseph

Did I miss anyone? Assuming no, tell me what you're trying to do and roll as appropriate.

OOC: OK, I guess we're doing this. Red Robert and Honest John launch missile attacks against the shadowy beast. Honest John rolls an adjusted 11 to hit, 2 damage. Red Robert rolls an adjusted 14 to hit, 4 damage.

Red Robert: "Kill that thing before it kills us!!!"

OOC: What are Marvin and the others (especially Jenkins) trying to do this round?!

[OOC: Oh, sorry. I thought I had to wait until after the monster.]

Nothing, not even this demon from Hell, is going to stop Jester Jenkins from returning the spear to its rightful place.
"Have at thee, foul beast!" the jester shouts and attacks the creature.

[Jenkins attack: 5 + 1=6-Oh for crying out loud.]

Joseph flees with the dog, trying to get out of this terrible place.

Marvin shrieks in fury at the notion that someone might wish to take his newly-acquired gold, and slashes with his longsword at the foe. Unfortunately, the swipe is more decorative than functional.

OOC: Longsword roll 2.

OOC: Gentlemen, I don't want to tell anyone how to play their characters but this may be a good time to start employing luck burning as a strategy.

OOC: Thanks for the reminder. Jenkins burns 8 POINTS of luck to get his 6 to a 14.

Ok, Red Robert attacks the beast, which howls in anger. Again, it is wounded but it appears to resist the wound to some extent.

Honest Johns shot misses.

Marvin courageously slashes at the beast, but his courage exceeds his skill and he also misses.

Before Jenkins can attack, the monster lets out another DEMONIC ROAR!

OOC: Everyone in the room please make a DC 15 Fort save. If you don't roll a 15 or higher, please roll 2d6 and let me know the result.

OOC: Marvin's Fort Save is a 14. Can you burn luck to raise a save? I'd do that if I can.

Otherwise, the 2d6 roll is 11.

Yep. Any roll that you make can be added to by burning luck.

[Jenkins Fort Save: 1--You know what? Screw it. The dice gods have spoken. I haven't rolled above a 5 in months. I give up. Let it ride. 2d6=7]

Great.

Jenkins shrieks in terror, throws the Spear of Ramat clattering to the floor, and bolts from the room.

The rest of you overcome your terror and stand your ground.

ROUND

Those remaining in the room, declare your actions and make your rolls.

OOC: OK, so previously Red Robert rolled a 14 which hit the creature. Honest John rolled an 11 and that was a miss. So the target AC of the creature is 12, 13, or 14. I just rolled an 9 (8+1) for Honest John's to hit. I'm going to burn 4 luck to raise that to 13. If that's a hit he does 4 damage. Red Robert rolls a 15 (14+1) to hit and does 5 damage.

Marvin once again swings at the enemy. Once again, he misses. He's not much of a longsword guy.

OOC: Longsword roll 9, so I won't bother to burn the luck this round.

Red Robert and Honest John chip away at the creature... for that is how it seems to them, as its body seems to resist taking serious damage from their blows. Marvin, with an ill-timed blow, misses.

A tentacle lashes out at Red Robert - If his AC is still 11, it just hits... for 2 HP of damage!
A tentacle lashes out at Honest John - If his AC is still 11, he manages to dodge the blow!
A tentacle lashes out at Marvin - Another miss!
A last tentacle lashes out at Honest John - This one hits... for 1 HP!

Jenkins is still running.

Xim wakes up alone in the next room, shaking the stars out of his head.

The Spear of Ramat still lies on the floor where Jenkins dropped it, a light where all else is dark. The creature is clearly giving it a wide berth...

OOC: Red Robert started with 5 HP. Did he take any damage after resting outside of the freaky "This Room Loves Lawfulness" room? Honest John is wearing golden chainmail, he's good.

You tell me! :-)

Chonic, I don't understand your question. All my comment means is that he is avoiding coming near the spear.

Marvin sees the wide berth that the creature is giving to the spear, and runs to it. He pulls his sleeves over his hands to create makeshift gloves, and tries to lift the thing - intending to use it to find out if their foe has a heart.

OOC: I guess that means we're up. If the creature is avoiding the spear Marvin is going after then he shouldn't be in any danger of being hit by Honest John or Red Robbert's projectiles. Also, I think our Judge has just confirmed that the creature has an AC of 13. So, that being said...

Honest John: "Cover Marvin!"
Red Robert: "So, shoot the creature like I've been doing?"
Honest John: "...yes."

OOC: Honest John rolls a to hit of 8 (7+1) and a damage of 2. Not going to bother burning luck on that. Red Robert rolls a to hit of 11 (10+1) and a damage of 4. He's going to burn two luck to bring that to hit up to 13.

Marvin needs to make a WILL save vs. a DC of 15

What does Xim do?

Jenkins snaps out of it. He has run out of the room about 40' down the hall.
