Cathbad will rest, and take whatever watch folks want her to take. If an attack comes right away, she is out of luck.

Fritz's aches and pains hit him like a ton of bricks.

Chendriss takes a moment to peruse the alchemical items and such, perhaps even jotting down a little inventory of the more choice items there for future reference.

I'm not really sure either, let's just call it 8 hours then daylight. There's enough time for a good solid rest.

As I said before, there's more than enough stuff here to outfit a very nice laboratory. Getting it out will be a chore, but... probably well worth it.

Darrow is happy to try, to make rest easier for you [but as a player, I don't know if I'm rolling for hp, or a condition...]

LOH: a 6.

Sorry.

"Perhaps, after some rest I can help you..." Darrow meditates on his service to Rudra.

A dark cloud seems to hang over Fritz, perhaps related to the black blade. He doesn't seem to be physically hurt, but his eyes are sunken and hollow, wild and haunted, darting this way and that.

Darrow realizes Rudra doesn't approve as soon as he lays his hands on the man. No warm blessing flows through, but some of the coldness from Fritz leaps up Darrow's arms, chilling him. He has a momentary vision of the dark wraith floating in the air in front of him, and swoons slightly before regaining his balance. He thinks he can hear the thing chuckling far below in the basement of the ruins...

The night passes uneventfully, and the suns rise in the morning like clockwork. The party regains 1HD each for resting, except Fritz who only gains 1 hp.

Bypeld wonders aloud as he looks over the alchemical supplies, "Have we seen a working cart or wagon around this complex? I'm quite certain we could fetch a good price for these supplies."

"I have no doubt of their value, Bypeld," says Chendriss, "but better I think to return to town as quickly as we can, prepare for our return, and then do so... We can take what we can carry with us, to 'fund' the return expedition."

"And we need to approach that blaggard, Salazar, carefully," says Flavia. "He may have set up us to become slaves or worse here, but he may not be as surprised at our return as we might think..."

Hector is already strapping on his gear, ready to get out of this place.

Darrow takes a moment to meditate and open himself to Rudra.

Chendriss looks among the lab equipment for anything he can carry without too much worry that it'll break on the trip back.

Sorry for the lack of update... been very busy lately.

Chendris, you can have two large-ish flasks. But be careful: they might break.

So are you going to march out? What's the party order?

New day! Cathbad can try to cast enlarge again, if need be, so should be by one of the burly fighter types.

Tonunt will be near the front (but not in front) dagger at the ready scanning the ceilings. "I'll keep watch for bugmen up top."

Bypeld packs his backpack snugly and dons his buckler and longsword. After a deep breath he stands and gets ready to help lead the way out of the complex.

Orastes and his shovel take up the middle of the clump.

Fritz, bleary eyed, after a restless night spent sleeping with an impossibly sharp magic blade in one hand moves to the rear of the pack.

Portly Trim hums a tune usually reserved to calm nervous clean shave customers. He places himself in the middle of the pack.

Hector will be in the front rank, anxious to get out of here, sword in hand. If someone has to the 'the one' in front, I don't mind if it's him. But maybe two side-by-side could be in front...?

Chendris and Flavia will be in the mid-rank. With Darrow in the rear-rank with his bow at the ready.

/ooc Just wanted to say, we've been playing this PBP for 4 months and 29 days now and I've been having a blast with this party. Beermotor is a great GM to boot!

Agree.

I am still in fear of losing a character. I can't tell if I've been simply lucky, or playing too timidly, or just have been doing something right to not have lost any of my four...

Ok. The ruins are quiet as the grave as you descend the steps the following morning. Aside from you, nothing moves. You make your way to the ancient wooden doors that lead back to the courtyard, right? They're still closed...

Tonunt the Bravo will check the door area for anything different or dangerous.

Trapfinding = 1d20+3 = 22

After a quick few pokes with The 10' pole, Tonunt asks if we are ready.

We're ready.

Hector is anxious to open the door. "I'd love to breathe the open air again!" If no one intercedes, he will open it...

Bright light from the rising suns streams in after Hector throws open the door. A malodorous air wafts in, but you see nothing aside from the empty courtyard and beyond, the far wall of the ruined compound.

Roll a Luck check, everyone, DC 15, apply your Luck bonus or penalty.

Nope. Cathbad fails.

EDIT: 6 - 1 = 5, if the degree of failure is important.

"Shut up, you fool!" Flavia barks. She and Chendriss listen for distance, direction and 'quantity'.
