So, the party is pretty much fleeing. Fritz is basically doomed, unless the wraith rolls really poorly. Is he going to flee or fight?

If a wraith is there, a wraith is there. That's certainly no worse than some of the things in some other modules I can think of.

Adventuring is not a safe occupation.

That nodule was originally written for 4-7 level DnD though.

L1? Don't think so bro. Try 2-4. That's probably about level 1 in dcc.

We had a magic blade, which meant the chance to deal with it. And we had legs to run.

I'm sure that the module received plenty of convention playtest back in the day. I am sure that the monster was in the module when it was run at cons.

Personally, I therefore have no problem with the Wraith of Con.

Sorry for the lack of update... depositions yesterday and trying to get a bunch of discovery out, very swamped. But things should slow down here this weekend and I'll get back into the groove.

Okay, I confused myself, thought Fritz had stood his ground, but he didn't... Everyone is back in the library room. Beyond, through the doorway into the bedroom, you can hear the wraith's echoing laughter and weird hissing screeching noises, and the flickering torchlight doesn't seem to penetrate the thick shadows that undulate in the room. What are your actions this round? The bodies of Thorin and Fosco lie inside the bedroom still... but everyone is quite shaken from the experience of encountering so evil an entity.

"Fellows, I think -- at the least -- we should retire to the defensible upstairs. But better perhaps, leave this place and journey away..." says Chendriss, with a notable hint of panic in his voice. "Though it is night, we have certainly braved more than mere darkness."

"Better facing the dead out there than the dead in here, you mean?" Cathbad asks. "The wraith did not follow us, and naught seems to be leaping out of the dark now. Let us bar the entrances, rest, and repair to town with the dawn's light."

Just a slight correction, we're still in initiative... It didn't immediately chase at 30' / round ... but ...

My question is, are you going to stay in that room and wait to find out ???

Cathbad votes yes. If it was going to chase them, she reasons, it would have done so already. Moreover, she is familiar with the idea of a ghost being tied to a particular area from thousands of ghost stories told to her by her older brother. She could be wrong, but is willing to gamble that she is right.

I'm picturing a logjam of people crammed in the doorway of the far door, random arms and legs sticking out of the clump of people, with everyone looking back at Cathbad, going "Hurunh?".

My 4 will stick around, but are staying near the exit and ready to run... Flavia showing more composure, will pant "Let's see if Cathbad is right. If she is, all the better for us all."

/ooc was OOT at a tourney this weekend

My group of 4/6 is scared and ready to a defensible position. Fritz in particular keeps looking at the blade. He has a feeling every time he looks away that the blade turns to fog.

To spur you along a bit ...

The darkness seems to gather and swell in the doorway to the bedroom. The red eyes appear in the middle again... it seems the wraith is moving after you!

Next round.

"RUN!" bellows Hector.

Paying much more attention to what lies ahead than what is following on behind, we move determinedly forward, back to the stairs. Consider it a move action this round, with the action die used for moving with care and observance.

Definitely running.

Fritz, for better or worse, is still closest to the thing and will take a swing at it if it engages him.

Well, what's it going to be Fritz, are you running with the others, or are you fighting? You can't do both...
