Box set Chained Coffin release

Post by MrHemlocks »

Thought I read, on KS, the expected release date was in August. Is there a new expected release date for the box set? Have not heard anything about Chained Coffin box set in, seems, over a month...

As per Joseph's reply to a question in the comments section from Sept. 6th:
All the stretch goals are written, edited and laid out. Right now work is in the hands of the artists, then the books (and box) will go to the printer. Printing will take a little longer than normal because we are printing the books, then the box (i.e. sequentially not parallel). When all items are printed at once by the same printer you can run them parallel safely. But since part of the books are already printed, and they are odd items (i.e. the spinning wheel), I want to have all contents printed and ready for assembly…then send actual printed samples to the box guys to ensure the box prototype holds all contents…before proceeding with the box printing. This may sound overly cautious but I've been in this industry long enough to know that a 1/8" mistake in box dimensions can mean total disaster, and I don't want to have any issues with the book printer mis-estimating the dimensions of what the box printer will have to contain. I am hoping to have everything back and ready to ship by late Oct / early Nov.
Joseph's really good at replying to questions about the project and I recommend checking the comments section of the Kickstarter (which is viable to the public) to keep abreast of progress on the project.

Plus the original expected August release was set when the KS launched and probably did not account for the future EXPLOSION when it changed from "single module with a nifty spinning doo-dad" and became "a multi-book boxed set with lots and lots of additional goodies that now need to be written, illustrated, laid out, printed, bound, assembled, and shipped." I'm not surprised that all this extra stuff is taking a few extra months worth of time. But I'm confident in the eventual end result.

And also, backers got their pdf copies of the module at the end of July, too.

I may have this wrong, but I think if you wanted the module itself right away (for August), you could have it sent in advance -- but of course it'd run you extra shipping to get the module shipped and then the rest of the box shipped when it was ready...

IIRC, one could have picked it up at GenCon if one were so inclined...

...or am I mixing this up with the Purple Planet...

That's what my brain is tripping up on, too (I think). ...Maybe they were both available?

Will any of the kickstarter stuff be available at the Con on the Cob, Hudson, Ohio this Oct? If so, what do we need to show proving we were a KS supporter?

Ah. Lemme just give him a call...

*does not have Will Wheaton's phone number -- hangs head in shame*

I do not know, as I'm not attending Con on the Cob. A letter of inquiry to Joseph or asking on the Kickstarter comments section may produce answers to your question.

GnomeBoy, how many times do we have to tell you quite erasing phone numbers of important people?
