Azazel Ascension? - Upon his defeat, the PCs are enveloped in a great flash of light and are recieve a boost to both their hit point and luck scores, along with all remaining Pious (and likely the other mutant creatures) dropping dead because he and the life-sustaining energy he exuded has departed from this plane of mortal beings.

But, seeing's how in his mortal life he managed to directly connect with the sources of all life and light, did he actually died or did he transcend and become a true deity? If so, this could present another future obstacle for the PCs.

Just imagine, weeks, months, perhaps even years later, they come upon a town or city where in the square a demagogue professes the glory of his/her divine master. If they stop long enough to listen, a name they believed silenced long ago is chorused by the surrounding congregation, "Azazel!"

Oh and let's not forget, continuing from above, that the very night of the PCs arrival the head of this new holy orderr receives an omen from their god warning that the agents of his old nemesis have come to wreak havoc upon his followers. The PCs' intentions don't matter, Azazel just wants them dead and isn't above tricking his followers to see it be so (nice to know even after apotheosis some things can be constant with a person).
