New post is up today.

Thought I'd start a thread for this -- in case anybody wanted to discuss the monsters from the blog...

Thanks guys! :)

My goal is put up at least one creature per week, if not more. I've got several in the pipe now -- just a matter of finishing them up...

Can you do a "False Dryad" for me please? I want a carnivorous tree, kind of like a huge venus flytrap, that uses either some sort of inflated, or maybe magical projection, "nymph" as a lure to get people close enough to nab with vines and haul up into the canopy, into a waiting digestive maw. Nom nom nom.

Second of two dryads goes up in about 20 minutes...

Of course, if you're expecting to ever play through Portal Under the Stars don't read them.

So do you do all your own drawings or are those from elsewhere?

For better or worse, it's all me.

As I mention on the blog itself, it started as a tool to get me back into drawing. The hardest thing is being able to picture stuff clearly in my head that I used to be able to make on paper, but can't make my hands do anymore... Slowly recovering those skills, with the blog as both guilt-provider ("two weeks since I posted anything?!?") and freedom-creator -- who else can say what a khambilaeus should look like...?

i.e., The blog is both the carrot and the stick!

I love the art and I am completely jealous. Stick figures are difficult for my untrained hands so i've always been jealous of good artists. Especially when I open the DCC book it makes me happy to see the amazing work and then angry that I wasn't blessed with the gift lol.

Ah, 'tis a blessing and a curse, in turn. And turns are 10 minutes long.

Thanks, folks, for the kind words. They're the kind of words I like.

Oh, and just as an historical note: the blog broke the 400 views mark between November 1st and 2nd. :D

If you haven't checked out the blog lately, you've missed a monster or three...

Not to mention that the skwog should be up before long... assuming I can nail down some anatomical parameters...

Zoinks! Well, those aren't the stats that I'm using in my game, although I do like those, too. Of course it'll be cool to have some variants.

Nope, nothing wrong with various variant varmints. I mean, how many types of beetles are there in the world...?

Interesting to see how many hits the auroc has gotten in the last week. It's gone from being an overlooked entry to nearly the most viewed entry among the monsters.

The unicorns in North Korea news bite went around again recently... wonder if that has anything to do with it, since aurochs come from the Bible and were translated as unicorn.

That's... odd.

I always google search my monster names to see what comes up, just so I don't unintentionally overlap anything in the real world or in mythology. My search didn't give me 'auroch' that I recall... Even though I thought the name I'd given them was familiar in the back of my mind, I didn't put this together. Had I hit 'auroch' I'd have dug a bit deeper for a name than just slapping 'au' for gold on the front of 'roc'.

And I wonder if the unicorns in North Korea are anything like this: http://beta.threadless.com/product/3886 ... tyle, shirt
