DM Report: Sailors on the Starless Sea - Part 1

Post by Gizrond »

We met again on Saturday at Pop Culture in Raymond, NH

The group leveled up their survivors and even added a seventh member. One of the existing players lent a guy that was watching the game a survivor so he could sit in. He had never played an RPG before and had a great time.

Once they leveled up, the group headed off to tackle the ancient Chaos fort that may or may not have been the source of a recent rash of villager disappearances. I beefed up Sailors to account for 1st-level characters.

The party currently has three clerics and they were rolling hot, so it was hard to kill anyone, but we did have 3 characters plucked from the jaws of death in the rounds they were to bleed out.

After getting killed by Vine Horrors and healed by a cleric in his bleed out round, the new guy's warrior, Bruce LeRoy, rolled a natural 20 on his strength check to raise the portcullis, and there was much rejoicing.

They party talked the warrior with a 4 intelligence to take a trip down into the Chaos Well, but then one of the clerics felt a twinge of guilt and prayed for Divine Aid to get him back. For shits and giggles, Krem de la Kreme the Halfling loaned him 5 points of luck to add +10 to his roll and blow the check out of the water. Thor appeared and fished Crumb the warrior out of the well, but his time lost in the void of chaos had given him a snake tail, an eye on the back of his head, and deep blue skin. Again, there was much rejoicing.

The party smashed in the door to the tower, and after a series of hot rolls and the clerics' saving of the Bruce LeRoy and two others, they mopped up the gross floor with the Beastmen. The Champion went down in the first round, after a crit on a Mighty Deed from one of the fighters tripped him and the thief finished him off with a stab to the kidneys.

We stopped there for the night.
