Judge's Screen

Just so everyone knows, I wasn't going for anything professional looking. While I have experience working at a printing business, I no longer have access to equipment, nor do I have the budget to access one. I am no craftsman. In fact, as I was creating it, I kept picturing Bladezz's sister from 'The Guild' hitting me with a ruler, shouting "I don't participate in shoddy craftsmanship!" I simply wanted to make a Judge's Screen that can function, although I did put art on the outside. I did that so people at the convention I'm going to this weekend will either recognize that it's the cool art of the DCC RPG or that it's new and cool art and come over to show interest in the game.

While no animals were harmed in the creation of this Judge's Screen, my cat did jump onto the cardboard just as I was about to apply my weapons table to it, so for a split second, my cat had the weapons table glued to his back. I have removed the crafting glue with water, and judging by my cat's response, he would have preferred the glue stay.

Anyway, here is my Judge's Screen. Please be kind. I hope the pictures aren't too big.

I like your screen. Well done! 8)

I went the more expensive route and bought one of those tri-fold screens from the Savage Worlds folks where you can insert your sheets into the pockets. I put some basic artwork on one side, key tables (fumbles and crits, spell mishaps, etc) on the other.

I was thinking that for a small screen I might just buy one of those 3-ring binders with plastic pockets. It would be a bi-fold screen, which doesn't allow for as many tables, but would also allow me to keep my notes and stuff in the binder in between games.

Raskal,

That's awesome!

(And did you bind the chapters separately, too? I see come more DCC-looking books down in the corner of one image.)

Some weeks ago I made my own Judge's Screen, there are a couple of ideas I would like to share, maybe this inspires you.

Let me introduce you the wonder of wonders the MITT (Magnetic Initiative Tracking Table), inner left side, a layer of magnet glued on the screen and a set of magnets labelled for player and mobs, so easy to change as magnets in the fridge 8)
Image

The outside of the screen is illustrated with handmade portraits of each player character. Considering the high bodycount in DCC its almost impossible to keep the screen up to date with the current chars. So, I decided to display the very first set of chars we played in DCC (who are still alive but not for longer ). Also will be a sadistic way to make the players remember their missing chars muahahaha
Hope you like it

Your screen is amazing. The artwork is fun. How can you off characters with such 'character'?

Is your screen one long section, or is it segmented with the individual sections parsed together via immaculate paper crafting? Also, I don't understand how Bender got onto your judges screen. :)

@JediOre glad you like it! I'm lucky to have a group of players full of character, each portrait represents a moment of personal failure of each PC.

@Zargon its made with three pieces of white cardboard (A4 size & 2mm thick), united with a glued layer of polyester and white paper, this way the paper can be fold lots of times without tearing. The images are A4 prints on standar paper and glued on the cardboard, the inside tables are also glued prints.
It can be done in one piece too. A 50x70cm cardboard, cut and folded, but to do a proper folding, that don't breaks apart the fourth time you open the screen, you need a special printer device (which I have no idea how it's called in english, maybe printer splitter?)
Regarding Bender, it was a personal change I made when playing Frozen in Time, I can't tell you more without spoilers
