Hello, I'm New to both DCC and this forum.
I would like to ask, how does mercurial magic works once you get your patron, specially aspects like spellburn and taint ?

Welcome aboard!

Mercurial magic effects don't change when a wizard/elf gets a patron (unless you as the Judge decide you want them to...).

Spellburn and patron taint don't change your mercurial effects, nor do your mercurial effects change your spellburn or patron taint (unless you as the Judge decide you want them to...).

Mercurial magic reflects the specific variant of the spell that a given wizard knows...

You and I can both know magic missile, but we know slightly different versions of the spell. That's what Mercurial Magic is... You could learn a new version of magic missile, and it would likely have a different Mercurial effect.

Sometimes Wizards will cast spells not for their "title" effect, but for the sake of making the Mercurial effect happen!
