What are the standard rules for the condition of "blinded"?
For example colors pray does not define the effects of being blinded.
Yet the mighty deeds has a scaling effect as a result of the roll
While the cleric spell affliction of the gods gives a brutal effect of Blind creatures suffer a -4 pen- alty to initiative rolls, attack and damage rolls, saving throws, and spell checks, and are easy to surprise. In addition, a blind character firing a missile weapon is at -8 to hit and any missed shot has a 50% chance of striking a randomly determined ally.
The attack modifier table only states that blinded allows a +2 to attack rolls to the blinded creature.

Re: Blinded
You get +2 to hit a blinded target, that's it btb, rather oddly the Blind attacker suffers no penalty.Infamousbargle wrote: The attack modifier table only states that blinded allows a +2 to attack rolls to the blinded creature.
The attack roll modifiers table is not the best table in the book; for example if the attacker is invisible he gets +2 to hit so if he is attacking someone who is blind he gets +4. Why? if the attacker is invisible or the defender blind surely the result is the same? the defender is easier to hit.
Also there is no advantage in attacking someone from behind which, from a certain point of view, is the same as being invisible or attacking a blind target? again the defender is easier to hit.
The whole lot could just be summed up as +2 to hit if for any reason the defender cannot see the attacker or the attack (and personally I would add 'and vice versa' too although most of the time an attacker can't attack someone he cannot see anyway).
Re: Blinded
You can also get some guidance on the Blindness front from the Mighty Deeds "Blinding Attacks" results (page 89). Result "5" is "Opponent is completely blinded for 1d4 rounds. He flails about with wild attacks, suffering a -8 to attack rolls, and can move only in a random direction at half speed" for example.
Re: Blinded
Result "4" from the same is milder: "Opponent is temporarily blinded. He suffers a -4 penalty to his next attack roll and may only move at half speed".
Re: Blinded
Sorry to have somehow not noticed you've already accounted for these effects. It recently came up in my game, and so I quickly answered w/o noting everything you've already found.phg wrote:Result "4" from the same is milder: "Opponent is temporarily blinded.
