Im reading thru A Gathering of the Marked.
I find it a bit confusing to get started. Im not a very experienced DM.
I use to DM AD&D 2e short adventures from Dungeon magazine back in the day.
Currently, Ive DMed Sailors and Lost Mines of Phandelver without much issues.

Is any of the other Purple Sorcerer modules easier to Judge?
The look amazing so Im not trying to bash.

Maybe Im just having hard time understanding the hook to the module.
Got any tips?

Thanks

Welcome Mutazoid!

A Gathering of the Marked is the largest of the Sunken City adventures, and I can understand why it might seem a bit intimidating. Do you have Perils of the Sunken City? It describes in greater detail the concepts behind the Sunken City and the Sending Stones, with tips on the funnel concept and how to get an adventure started quickly.

Have you ever run a funnel before? They're unlike most traditional adventures, in that your players create 3-4 0-level characters each to fill out a party with 15-20 serfs: most of whom are destined to die! In the case of the Gathering, they've each been 'marked', and feel compelled to find their way to where the adventure starts, so motivation shouldn't be an issue! The idea is to just keep driving the party forward: they'll slowly be whittled down until hopefully 8-10 are left for the final confrontation. (And there are replacement characters to be found along the way if things go to badly for your players.)

If you don't have a copy of Perils, let me know. It's contained in the Sunken City Omnibus as well, but I'd be happy to send you a free code to download the single adventure to help you get going.

Take care,

I dont have a copy of Perils.
I have run sailors on the starless sea so I have run a funnel before.
I thought each module of yours would be completely independent since they are all funnels.
Great production value.
Id love to get a copy of Perils.
Ill probably be picking up a hard copy of the omnibus at Gencon (which is my first time going :D )
Thanks for replying.

Each of the adventures do stand alone, but it certainly can't hurt to have Perils to help streamline starting any of the adventures.

Send me your RPGNow email address to info (at) purplesorcerer (dot) com, and I'll send you a Perils download code to tide you over until GenCon. ;)
