Alternate Occupations - New Product

I have placed the minor DCC rules supplement, Alternate Occupations, out on RPGNow/DriveThruRPG:

http://www.rpgnow.com/product/104218/Al ... ccupations

This supplement provides a more expansive Occupation Table for the 'funnel.' Additional tables are provided for exclusively generating dwarves, elves or halflings. More focused tables are also included for specific classes, so that wizard you want to run will not wind up with an occupation of cheesemonger, but might have an occupation of university student, street magician, or hedge wizard.

Also included is a limited list of occupation definitions. This list provides a brief description of certain occupations whose true function may not be obvious or well known to both the players and the judge. (I for one had no clue what a beadle was!)

Thanks,

Welcome to the forums. You might want to change the Rules System you've listed your product under to Dungeon Crawl Classics rather than just d20 SRD/OGL. It makes more sense to list it as the system it really belongs to, especially given the approvals procedure you've gone through. :) Hopefully Joseph will update his listing of approved publishers on the GG homepage soon, as that'll give you more exposure.

Colin,

Good point on the rules system entry. I just went in and edited the product profile. Thanks!

I want to say thanks for creating these as they will be quite handy and having the definitions for the obscure ones really helps now I don't have to look them all up.

Not to forget the book is nicely put together and has a lot of content like 9 organized tables for occupations! Nice job and professional!

Going to go buy this now. Love RPG supplements like this (easy to insert in to a campaign, great quality but not overdone with expensive art and production values driving up the price). The reality is I rarely use the stuff I buy but it is nice inspiration for me and sometimes I find a gem that I will print off. The point is at $2.00 I don't care what I do with it really.

Ok I just checked it out and it's definitely worth buying in my opinion. For $2.00 you can't go wrong. First off, I love lists that go 1-200, the more entries the better in my opinion. I hope this isn't giving away anything but to test it out I rolled a 6 (meaning I add +100 to my percentile roll) and 00 giving me a result of 200: Halfling serving wench, armed with a knife and using a serving platter as a shield.

Awesome!

I will add that breaking the main list in to racial mini-lists is a nice bonus for those campaigns that want that sort of thing. I know for my group I will encourage a 1-200 roll but if someone badly wants to play a dwarf for instance I won't stop them. Now I can send them to the dwarf table and it's a piece of cake.

The one request I will make is that the author creates more of these. This list works great with the default DCC setting and could be switched seemlessly with the list in the DCC book but often I will want to set my campaigns in other settings. I will be more than happy to buy alternate versions of this list, perhaps one that is more fitting for a Conan-type world (ie. more slaves, gladiators, slavers, herdsman, barbarian tribesman, witch-doctor, etc.), ones that focus on different cultures (ie. a middle-eastern them, a norse theme) and perhaps ones that focus just on the races (ie. a 1-200 dwarf supplement). I guess that depends on how successful this product is but you'd have at least one repeat customer...

You're welcome, Steve. That'll be 5 quatloos, please. ;)

This is an interesting product, and I am going to playtest some of it tonight, along with The Ooze Pits of Jonas Gralk.
