Nothing here in The Netherlands either. Based on the latest reason for the delay (a missing package somewhere in the UK), I can expect delivery in November at the earliest. I've been told many dates in the past that were missed, so I take the latest date with a pinch of salt.

I pledged at the $51 level but it seems like my pledge level means I'll be one of the last to receive. The DCC crowdfunded projects I've contributed to have all had massive delays. It's really put me off crowdfunding future DCC licensed products.

Getting to that point with myself too. Between Brave Halfings problems and this patron book, Im wondering if I will again.

At least you weren't attacked in this forum about complaining about not getting your items.
I asked another Publisher why I should trust him and he attacked me and called me an 'asshat'.
Goodman Games hasn't stepped in to restrict him; just told him to start another thread about the topic.

So I guess they really don't care to whom they sell the license, as long as the check clears.

I'm not certain that Goodman Games "sells" the license. I think it's a matter of discussion between Joseph Goodman and a potential publisher, where it is determined if the style and quality of the material fits the DCC model. I'm not aware of any money changing hands, only permission being granted. You might want to check your facts before you go onto Goodman's boards and trash Goodman Games. Joseph has always stood by his product line and cares a lot about his customers. Goodman Games has some of the best customer service that I've ever encountered among game companies.

As a moderator here, I can say that it's always a fine line as to when to let folks speak their mind and when to censor their content. I'm sorry if you were attacked here, and name calling is certainly not appropriate. I try to watch for this sort of thing but I can't be everywhere and must have missed this event.

Just wanted to add: I see that Joseph has visited the other thread and has made comments of his own there.

It's worth reminding everyone that we're all here to have fun and discuss gaming, so hopefully folks can be polite and respectful to each other.

It was a rough storm here in Friesland, hundreds of trees were blown down in Leeuwarden alone but luckily post is still arriving after the storm.

In other news, Sean's updated the Indiegogo page:

"hi all it is with great pleasure that i can tell you that everything has been dispatched. It should be with you by Christmas.
Sorry for the delays at the end but it will be worth the wait.
Thank you all for your support and we all look forward to your feedback.
If you do not not have your order by Christmas Day please email me directly to update me. Sean.connors68@me.com
Many many thanks
Sean Connors"

That's good news. I hope it arrives long before Christmas. 7 weeks is a VERY long time to wait for post from the UK.

I wish that I could say "Yes". Sean indicated on the Indiegogo page that everything was shipped, but I haven't gotten anything yet.

I have started tinkering with an adventure related to Temperance, a magical blade mentioned in The Revelation of Mulmo, wherein the drunken owner of Alemourn can hope to win the everflowing cup. The idea arose from events in my own campaign.

For obvious reasons, I would like to be able to have this adventure match Mulmo in terms of trade dress.

Seventeen days from the UK to Canada, though, isn't completely out of the question.

Is anyone in contact with Sean/Outsider68? I backed the project and had given him an address change shortly after Patrons funded. Unfortunately, my copy was inadvertently sent to the previous address. I contacted Sean here and on October 18 he admitted sending to the incorrect address and said he would send another copy right out. Since then I've heard nothing, though I have tried sending him two more messages.

thanks

Jack

I’ve asked Sean repeatedly on the Indiegogo page & via email if my package has been sent. Here’s his reply:

“Hi Steve,

sorry to hear that…

i have more books coming for an ebay campaign im going to launch january..

those books will be here monday next week…

I will resend some to you if your ok to wait…

if not i will refund you…

regards

sean"

Sean didn’t answer my question about a tracking number or if my package has been sent. I’ve been in email contact with him for months but it’s been one missed date after another. I’m annoyed by the acute lateness & my gut feeling is that my package hasn’t been sent. I’m also pissed off with his new Ebay campaign. I have requested a refund but he has not refunded any money.

I have a bad feeling about this. If my package with a DM screen, magic supplement and tshirt was sent but never arrived, why does Sean seem to think that sending out a new package with a book would solve the issue? Does he also have extra tshirts, DM screens & magic supplements in supply? This doesn't make any sense to me & I don't feel like we are getting the whole picture from Sean.

Does anything know anything about this Sean chap? The DCC community is pretty close knit. Maybe some pressure can be exerted . . ..

Sean said he was involved with a WFRP fan project but I'd never heard of him before he got the DCC license from Joseph Goodman. I emailed Sean 3 times last week after he offered me a refund. He hasn’t replied to any of the emails. He also hasn’t issued the refund either. Of course there is also no sign of the package he said he had sent all those weeks ago. When he stated weeks ago that we’d have them by Christmas I thought it was an odd thing to say. Considering the UK is next day delivery and to Europe is about a week.

I have also emailed Joseph Goodman about my concerns regarding this project & the non delivery of the printed material from Sean.

I have sent an email to Sean, and will have a blog post up with the results 48 hours from now.

I emailed Joseph Goodman last week about this issue. I haven't received a reply from him but if he read my email, he is aware that there are serious concerns about this DCC product.

I paid $50 but have received no physical product from Sean Connors but plenty of excuses in the past year. Now he's gone AWOL & is not answering his emails. Customers who paid money in good faith should not be treated like fools. Coupled with the John Adams debacle, this definitely is not good news for DCC fans. :x :(

no offense but i don't see how joseph goodman can help out with this. ks is a contractual issue between the one that initiates it and others that support it. it is like emailing erik mona every time one pf kickstarter turns belly up or is late and complaining. gg doesn't have either inclination or ability to police kickstarters.

I did not complain to Joseph Goodman. I informed him of my experience with the DCC patrons project. What Joseph Goodman does or doesn't do is entirely up to him but it is important that he knows what is going on with one of his licensees that carries the DCC logo. Sean Conors stills sells licensed DCC product on Drivethrurpg and plans an Ebay sale of the products. It is not right that we have been stiffed after paying our money in good faith.

you are right that it is not fair but goodman games can not revoke dcc license based on his misconduct towards you or other customers. there is one thing that you and others who have been stiffed should and could do and that is to write to kickstarter. i think that luke crane of burning wheel fame is working there as some sort of specialist for self-published rpg products. maybe ks has some sort of leverage to force this guy to either refund or deliver on his promise. either way i think tjat he can probably come up with some plan of action.

i mean beyond the license goodman games have nothing to do with this product.

Just to point out, as ominous as the no-response seems, Sean did indicate delivery by Christmas. I have no idea what method would take so long, but one response to my blog post did indicate actual receipt a couple of weeks ago. So there could still be a pleasant surprise at the end of the road.

I wanted to make sure people knew what was going on. I didn't want people to feel left in the dark (insofar as I could avoid it). Even if Sean has bailed, that isn't Joseph Goodman's fault - he approved what I think are great products. Even if I never see a print copy, and even though I gain nothing from sales, I really think everyone judging this game should get a copy of the patron book. And, hell, I like the modules, and think that you should get those too.

And run with it. There is language in the patron book and Mulmo at the very least to allow you to use up to three patrons in any other project. Run with it. There are monsters in Mulmo that you are specifically granted the rights to use. Run with it.

For my part, I just hope that Sean is okay. I know he wouldn't consciously rip anyone off, and I know he loves this community. It may be that he underestimated how much he would need to get print copies out to an international audience -- general nativity to the publishing process, crowdfunding, and business in general. And when people fail, they get embarrassed and depressed and then they still have to deal with their everyday lives on top of all that.

Everyone should understand that crowdfunding is not a guaranteed pre-order, and you take your risks by backing creators that are generally amateurs at both creating and the entire business of publishing and distribution. I think this ideal has been corrupted a little bit by both the mega-stars of crowdfunding (Monte Cook, Frog God, etc) and the straight up con men (Nystul). There's a very large group in the middle that's just trying to get a dream project produced and out the door because they have a vision with no real ideas about making money on it. And they have varying levels of success in both funding the project and bringing the full vision to fruition.

I'm not discounting those that didn't get what they expected (and feel like they overpaid for what they got). And it doesn't excuse the publisher's silence and, what appear to be broken promises, but I for one understand what he's going through. I think if Squid Sorcerer's Indiegogo campaign had actually funded, I would have been under extreme pressure to deliver and would have probably disappointed -- because we chose to fund the thing ourselves after the crowdfunding campaign failed, I got to go through that process without the pressure of promises. And in hindsight, I saw where certain incentives and delivery schedules that we'd communicated would have been almost impossible to deliver. Actually, one of the incentives would have been completely impossible.

Anyway, all this to say: Sean will deliver something -- even if that's a heartfelt apology that he couldn't bring the entire vision to fruition. Everyone who funded this project (and everyone who worked on it -- not just Daniel and I) took a risk, and that's the nature of risk. Most of the time, you lose. When you succeed at even 50% of what you originally intended, then at least you got something...

Hopefully this doesn't come off as sanctimonious and harsh. I'm coming at it from a business background where I've watched great businesses burn to the ground (figuratively) through no fault of the people involved (just bad luck). 90% of small businesses fail. And these crowdfunding projects (of the scale of the patrons book) are _micro_businesses.

So saying you posted out everybody's stuff a month ago but not posting it is acceptable? Isn't that just flat out lying?

For the record, I did not pay this guy $50 for a pdf & an apology a year later.

I don't know what he's said or hasn't said -- and I don't mean that to challenge what he's told you or to explain it away. All I know is that a friend of mine that backed the project got his book a couple of months ago -- through no intervention by me. All I can think is that Sean was sending them out in waves and ran out of money, then got embarrassed and has been stalling while he tries to rectify the situation, but has not yet been successful. It's all speculation, of course, until he responds to the general community -- or anyone (I've also sent him a mail to find out if he needs help getting the last of the books out).

All of my thoughts above weren't meant to excuse his actions or your dissatisfaction at what's been delivered for your contribution. All I'm saying is that crowdfunding started with the intention of funding a project by an amateur. And all that implies. It's a risk with graduated levels of success.
