This will certainly be bought asap. Just waiting for the release date.
Re: Chapter 13 Press Presents: Tales of the Fallen Empire
It has been over two months since the last update. You might be waiting longer than originally expected..

Re: Chapter 13 Press Presents: Tales of the Fallen Empire
According to the most recent Spellburn podcast, expectations are high for October.

Late to the party, but I'm really looking forward to this project. Hopefully things work out.
Re: Chapter 13 Press Presents: Tales of the Fallen Empire
Will this setting be available in print or just pdf? Just got into DCC RPG and looking forward to seeing this setting.

ravenspoe is the man in charge, this is what he had to say about it last year:fanditch wrote:Will this setting be available in print or just pdf? Just got into DCC RPG and looking forward to seeing this setting.

a PDF only or what format? Thanks, looking forward to it, looks promising!
The initial release will be PDF followed by a soft cover version done via POD.
A lot of what will determine the print run will be our Kickstarter going up next week. We are bringing on Michael Curtis (Stonehell Dungeon) to do some writing and have one of Goodman Games artists possibly doing some or all of the maps.
I will be posting more here about the Kickstarter soon.

..oh that could be the case. I was referring them and to folks that bought the Judge Screen on RPGnow. They are vested customers that deserve timely updates as well, aren't they? Until I posted this here and on g+ there wasn't anything and now we have the good word that October is the new expectation. I hope so as I am excited for this.catseye yellow wrote:not true. there have been updates but only for backers. last one is dated 1st september

In the last update on the KS (Oct 5th), this was posted:
"We are about a month from the layout being finished, the PDFs will be made available as soon as Ben finishes up. All edits are art are in, right now it is just layout that is going slower than expected. Unfortunately it is a one man job."
Given everything has been more than a little late (book was done with edits in July, frex), my guess is that November a likelier target than October. Going to be great holiday reading.

James Carpio said on Facebook yesterday the PDF should be out by Halloween and the print copies by the end of November.

Is there a new date for either of these?

Likewise. I wish there was more information about this project. Even their website has little about it on it. If this was my book I would go to extreme measures to get as much information out as possible and get potential players involved in the process.

Re: Chapter 13 Press Presents: Tales of the Fallen Empire
Sounds like the PDF is supposed to be out next week. Hard to parse exactly:
"Ben has informed me that all the text is in and right now we are just putting in the last bits of art and the ads from Goodman Games and the other 3PP. I will be at Carnage on the Mountain this weekend in Vermont, but by the time I come back I should be ready to review the final book for any last minute things and then off to DriveThru RPG so I can get the PDFs out."

Re: Chapter 13 Press Presents: Tales of the Fallen Empire
Update from Nov. 18:
"I am very proud to announce that the book is complete. Ben added The last of the art, the OGL, and a very comprehensive index over the weekend.
I am going to turn it over to Joseph Goodman tonight for his approval process and if all goes well we can get this out to you. I will go over our shipping plans in a future update, but for now I wanted to share the good news."
Looks like it's done!

Re: Chapter 13 Press Presents: Tales of the Fallen Empire
So, the book is completed....great! Will we be getting a print version by Christmas? How many pages? Also, is the book complete...campaign setting, monster manual and the rest? Do we need DCC rule book to play this?

Re: Chapter 13 Press Presents: Tales of the Fallen Empire
Layout for Tales From the Fallen Empire is done. The PDF has been sent off to Goodman Games for final approval, and then it’s out to all the KS backers. Next I will be exporting the PDF/X version to submit for POD, and now that I have a page count (214), I can build a proper cover. Huzzah!

I've got it, too. Been devouring it between food, football and naps. Really enjoying it - you can definitely see the source material, but it doesn't feel overly derivative. I could definitely run a game with this.
Oh - and yes, KS backer.

Re: Chapter 13 Press Presents: Tales of the Fallen Empire
Sweet merciful Christ! Tales has the single most awesome (and terrifying) magic item creation rules I've ever seen. Talk about gutpunching the 'magic Christmas tree'.
For those who don't have the book yet, basically it involves summoning a demon, and then negotiating/forcing it to bind its life force to the magic item. So many ways things could go so terribly wrong.
I'll be kicking off a PbP for this sucker ASAP (probably shortly after the PDF hits commercial release) I just need to finish digesting the book.
