Hi, Joseph...Beta release question

Post by Ogrepuppy »

I was wondering if you plan to release a "Beta follow up" incorporating some of the locked-in changes you've made, spelling/grammar/layout corrections, etc. since the first Beta went public. Maybe sometime in August/September, a halfway point between now and November...?

You could call it the Delta rules...the DDCC. :P

I'd like to see a gamma (or delta) version as well. A few important things like recommending judges award 1-2 luck per adventure is fairly important to know but is hidden in posts on this forum.

Also, thief skill changes to d20 could be tested if that is the new direction.

I think that part of the problem is that Joseph set the bar too high with the Beta rules set -- full layout and artwork and everything. I suspect that a full-blown Gamma would take a lot of effort to put together, but maybe some sort of appendix PDF with rule changes might work.

To clarify, I mean the Beta rules cleaned up with edits and clarifications and minor rules swap-outs that have been confirmed, NOT re-releasing everything from the top.

You think? He really did not need the artwork and layout for a beta. An alpha two months earlier with just a .RTF file would have been great. We'd be two months further along in helping make the game better. :)

I think the plan is to release only small chunks of material (see the Revised Cleric and Revised Thief threads) rather than an all-out revised version.

Other materials under revision are apparently under playtest by a select few, rather than as a general release.

My understanding is that the next "big thing" will be full release in November.
