"Last Weapon Trained?"

I may be thick, but I don't understand this passage:

"If a 0-level character handles multiple weapons over his career, he is considered trained in the last weapon he fought with."

A 0-level character starts with one weapon. Say he picks up another one in the course of the adventure, survives, and levels up. Now he's trained in the second weapon, but not the first?

After 1st level, this point is moot, as he can train in multiple weapons.

Am I reading this right? Because, doesn't it basically mean that a 0-level question is "considered trained" in whatever weapon he chooses to be fighting with at the time?

I'm probably missing something obvious.

Do you keep that 0 level weapon training once you pick a class even if the class doesn't include that weapon in its list?

Example: 0 level character picks up a longsword and happens not to die. He hits level 1 and decides to be a Wizard. Does he keep the longsword as a trained weapon?

If characters' 0 level trained weapon is a moot point after hitting level and they don't have a penalty for using untrained weapons while level 0 it seems like the entire concept of having a trained weapon at level 0 is superfluous.

You do keep the training from level 0.

Wizards are trained in LongSword anyway, btw.

Cool.

Damn. I missed that. I guess even if it is written out plain as day it's hard to break decades of conditioning.

Pretty awesome that they can use swords and bows.
