Thanks guys for the kind words. And I'm glad you found Hugh's scowling face funny: it made me laugh the first time it rolled off the printer. Originally, I was just going to put '4d6' over the stat line for enhanced characters, but upon considering the assumed enormity of Hugh's wrath, I felt something a little more imaginative was in order. :)

And it appears from my logs that this morning we passed 25,000 characters created. (Almost 7,000 character sheets)

Thanks for this web app. I printed out 30 sheets yesterday for free rpg day. Made things so easy.

That's exactly why I created the thing, so I'm thrilled you were able to use it for free rpg day.

Awesome!

My only nitpick is that the result isn't very printer-friendly.

You ROCK!! this thing is awesome! I'm running a game for 6 on Thursday so I made 12 sheets. I'm gonna have them cut out and shuffled, then they can draw their 4 from the deck, with enough extra to do a whole restart if needed! Quick and easy.
Thanx!

Admittedly, its a handy thing, and a fun generator.

But don't underestimate the boon of folks rolling up their own characters. At Level 0, it's fast and easy. And they are their characters. I don't just say this to the poster, but to anyone thinking of this route. Better, I'd think, to copy off the occupations and equipment charts, so multiple people can use them simultaneously. Then char gen is even faster.

I'd use the generator for henchmen, if it came up.

I came to the same conclusion shortly after I posted. so I decided on a roll 2, pick 2 method, but with only one player we actually used roll 3 pick 7 and saved a lot of time.

I found that the cards were an excellent vehicle for explaining the game. By the time we'd gone over everything on the sheet it, we'd covered 90% of the rules.

I went a little nuts with the PCs though: 70 matte laminated pre-gens. {FYI- matte laminate is an awesome surface for the wet-erase markers used on battle maps} I stacked the deck so that there is one PC with 18 STR, one with 18 AGIL, etc. In the quest to generate a PC with an 18 AGIL, the app finally kicked one out, but it had an 18 STAM as well. I kept it in the deck without remorse, because lurking somewhere in the deck is an Animal Trainer with AGIL 3, PERS 3... so I figure fairs is fair...
they worked out to .50cents each, so next month I add another 30 quasi-random PCs {I'll filter out any further 18's that get generated} to make 100 cards in the deck.

And finally there is a lot to be said for the convenience of being able to "draw a card" from the peasant deck when I need a random NPC.

Anyone else getting a 404 error for the generator?

Nope... worked just fine for me. Maybe I was just a temporary problem with the server or something.

I've had some occasional flakiness with my service provider of late, which has me contemplating a move. Let me know if you notice any more downtime, it will ease my decision making... ;)
