Glad to see you guys are excited!

I think Harley answered the Pathfinder/adventure path/compatibility question well. These days, the simple reality is that there are many games being played, rather than One Game To Rule Them All as 3E once was. The goal of DCC RPG is simply to be its own great game. Some fans will also find it relatively easy to convert to and from other d20-based games. But I hope the primary appeal is the game itself.

It will be a fun couple months as we get closer to the playtest rules. Now I need to go bang out some more words to finish up the core manuscript... :)

Wait ... we can pre-order? Guess I'll have to re-read threads and look through the GG webpages!

EDIT: Found the pre-order spot ... did it! Now JediOre and I can play a virtual game not yet released! :P

Hi there

Very excited about this project, sounds it like will tick my old school box.

Just wondering, is there any incentive for pre-ordering now (free pdf, reduced price, whatever), almost a year before release? If not, I'll hold fire until November.

Cheers,
Mr G.

Tavis, playtester, author and blogger, put up a post on ENworld addressing this question.

The madman drew from 3 different systems to run his playtests: AD&D, 3.5, and the DCC RPG.

My error, Ogrepuppy! I missed your "preorder" post. (I'm a little bummed now. I thought I might have been the second to pre-order and now discover I'm no better than third.) Of course I will run you through the virtual non-released game along with JediOne!
JediOre wrote:Swell! What module are you going to take me through?
A module which has not been written, of course! :D The dungeon of "TeePeeKay." One of my personal favorites.

Seriously, if we can all get ahold of playtest docs it would be fun to have a non-public PBP playtest. I'd think that this would provide a neat way to give the rules a good shakedown and see what falls out. A PBP game might give us different information than we'd get from a FTF game. Maybe I could set up a private space on my OD&D boards for this, if we get to the point where we have rules to play with, that is.

The incentive is that you can be super-cool like the rest of the guys who pre-ordered. :) No, nothing really at the moment, although down the road I might cook up something. I like to encourage enthusiasm. :)

I think you maybe possibly might have succeeded by announcing the DCC RPG--that alone has my adrenaline pumping and my creative wellspring...uhh....springing.

If we get the rules and you run the game, I'll be there.

I hope we start with zero-level characters as Joseph describes here.

The email I received with the DCC RPG announcement has certainly piqued my interest. It has been awhile since that has been the case at GG. I logged in and this is what the forum indicates for me:

Looking forward to hearing more.

Is this book the equivalent to a PHB? Or will it have everything the DMG and MM would have? I am quite willing to fork over the 40.00 to pre-order it, I just want to know what to expect. Thanks!
