Gold foil first edition version of DCCRPG--what's it worth?

Post by Ogrepuppy »

I have a copy. I like it, but I have several other copies of the DCCRPG and am Kickstarting the 4th printing...so I'll have yet ANOTHER copy. Things are tough, money is tight, and having a bazillion books sitting in storage does NO-ONE any good, so I'm going to sell my copy of the gold foil, black leather first edition book to feed my habit....err, provide some extra funds. (Likely towards the 4th printing!)

I've looked around the internet, but I'm not seeing the info I want.

How much is it worth, roughly?

No recent sales on the Bay of E to go by, but someone is currently asking a little over $100 (from overseas, which may limit the sale somewhat).

I'm pretty sure I've seen them go for around $150 in the past, but I've got to play the never-paid-close-attention card.

For what it's worth, I found a full Noble Knight Inventory Price List from April 2014 on Scribd. This appears to be everything they do carry and anything they've carried in the past. So this is what they were charging for it a year ago:

GMG5071 Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG (Gold Foil Limited Edition) (Hardcover) NM Price: $195.00

There was a Wizard cover copy on Amazon UK recently for a crisp $1000 but I doubt anyone paid that for it.

It ought to be worth a few bob but I guess with the reprint coming up most players with the money to buy another rule book will be blowing it on a new one so that may hold down the current value.

There are always folks who miss or are completely unaware of the Kickstarters, however. And as far as the Bay of E goes, if you can wait long enough, you can find someone willing to pay what you're asking. In the case of that 1k Wizard Cover, that 'long enough' time might've been 100 years... but if it had been $200 it'd've been sooner, I'm sure.
